  1. Hi folks

Seeking some tyre advice, I have just mot my bike with no real problems had couple of advisories including new front tyre.

However i am wondering if both need replaced, I usually pressure my tyres to 34f and 36r, but within a couple days bike starts to feel heavy and when i go back to top up both tyres have dropped into mid or low 20s.

Should they be loosing that much pressure so quickly ?

Also how do i go about choosing a good tyre and get the best performance.

Current tyres are, 120/70/17/58 front and 150/70/17/69 rear, however manual states correct rear size is 160/70/17/69

Are these the best sizes for my bike a suzuki gsx 600f 1994

If not I am able to change to other sizes for better performance.

    Thanks james

  2. I have the older version of your bike bluenose and have a similar problem, i have found that by setting the fuel tap to full on cures the problem, only thing is you must remember to turn it off when you stop.

I am still trying to get to the bottom of my problem, i thought it was the fuel tap itself that was faulty so i replaced it but that has not helped, so i think it maybe a blockage in one of the hoses or perhaps the carb.

  3. Thanks for all the help folks got it going today :)

Put in the new spark plugs, cleaned the cap ends and bodged together the leads to the coils and got it started, old coils are too bad to be fixed so got a new pair from ebay should arrive by the end of the week and be properly back on the road, cant wait !

    Thanks again

  4. hi guys thanks for all the help, i think i may have found the problem just need some confirmation.

When i was installing the new spark plugs, i followed the ignition leads from the plugs to the coils and found that at the coil end the leads seem far to loose, they don`t seem secure in anyway they just pull out with very little pressure ?

Should they be that loose all the ones i have seen on ebay seem fixed into the coil ?

  5. hi dave thanks for the reply, the choke should be working fine it was last time it started, the bike has had a problem with the fuel valve since i got it so i have had to leave it set to on constant to keep the fuel flowing, i have always turned it off when i stop, but was wondering if possibly some fuel could have been left in the carb when i last parked it and some how have blocked or choked it ?

  6. hi folks having my first big problem with my bike, it is an L reg gsx 600f.

The bike has been running fine started first press every day until the recent run of bad weather.

I left the bike sitting for just 2 or 3 weeks then when i went back to start it, it turns over but wont fire.

I have charged the battery quite a few times but still nothing, i get the odd splutter and puffs of smoke out the exhaust but wont fire up ?

Looking for some advice on what i could try first, spark plugs, battery etc.

    thanks in advance

  7. yeah thanks akey, appreciate those useful tips, as far as gear details, my helmet is standard ls2 lagarto II i don`t think it`s removable, gloves are spada quite heavy style gloves, akito leather trousers, wulfsport armoured jacket, and boots are frank thomas zip up with fold over velcro

  8. thanks eastanglianbiker i will check those out can you tell me in the meantime, the manual says it can be harmful to leave it on pri setting when the bike is not running but is it ok to run the bike with it on pri and just turn it off when i switch off

  9. hi guys looking for some experienced advice my suzuki gsx 600 has developed a problem today, the fuel system has 3 settings reserve - on- pri according to the manual normal modes are on or reserve but when i run in these modes after a couple of miles i lose power the bike backfires and cuts out, then it will only restart when i set the fuel mode to pri and pull the choke out then it will run fine until i switch back to any of the two normal modes, can anyone give me an idea of the problem ?

  12. :( shame but thats chinease bike build quality for you sadly :(

great on the theory pass! :D get tests done and get rid and buy a bigger bike :D

btw you owe my pictures of the work youve put into the bike!! :whip:

wud rather no spend that much on it, already spent more than i wanted to, and wont have it much longer passed my theory the other day.

ended needing even more as i got more and more into it, its had a new rack, rear brake rod, throttle cable, throttle housing, spark plug, front mudguard which was a nightmare two bolts head was shredded had to use grips to get them out, and third one was broken right into the thread had to drill it out and use a nut and bolt :crybaby:
