  1. Right! Sorry for the delay, but the guy who's on opposite shift from me has been off then I've been poorly too, so he's just got back to me tonight. Looks like the 21st till 23rd/24th August It is the bank holiday which might help or hinder the numbers but hey ho! It's the date now. Who's up for it? And I've been thinking about a charity and I don't know if any of you saw Long Way Down? But when they were in Scotland they visited a home for poorly kids whose lives were drawing near, and it was a place where they could go and let their hair down while their parents were given a bit of a break. I can't remember the exact name, but I can get it. What do you think?? DG
  2. Regarding your avatar Techno is that how you gonna look in 20 years time or is it your Dad??
  3. I'll get onto it tonight when my opposite night man starts work. Take a pill Techno you'll be avvin one of those panic attacks!!!
  4. Ok Techno, cheers What about everyone else? So far we have 2 definates. Come on blow the cobwebs off and lets get going on this thing!!
  5. Just found out that one of the other lads at work has already booked the last week in July and the first week in August. He also said he can't cover the 2nd week for me as he has things planned! So looks like it's gonna be middle to back end of August. Is everyone interested ok for this or is it a case of back to the drawing board?? Thoughts please folks.
  6. Probably be somewhere near/around the Lake district.
  7. Looking at either last weekend in July or first weekend in August, I've just got to wait for go ahead on some holidays I've put in from work. Hopefully I'll know after the weekend.
  8. Yes We'll treat ourselves to a "Proper" Bed.
  9. Just been looking on Michelin Routefinder... Here goes. I think the best bet is for everybody to meet at John O Groats on the eve of ride. That way people who live far away might need a couple of days to get up there. Of course whoever lives en route can hook up and ride together. The trip itself I would recommend doing it over two days the mileage is 838 miles approximately and according to the route map would take just short of 15 hours with 8 and a half on motorways! (I know that this isn't gospel and only a guess-timate) Therefore I reckon we should split the trip into two days with a stop over (dare I say camping? )in the Lake District. Then crack on and obviously have a night at our destination. The following day upto the individuals, either go our separate ways and head off home or have a day off, chill out spend another night then head off back to our hometowns. Thoughts and comments please?? Gav
  10. Eh?? Would you like to elaborate on that Mr T. ?
  11. Good Stuff! I haven't got exact dates yet, but somewhere around that time. Plus it'll give us time to sort out sponsors and a charity to involve.
  12. First week in August anyone???
  13. I'm with you on the camping, but there are a few guys on here that don't know what camping is!!! What about taking a vote?? I'll get the diary out and check what dates I can do then I'll post over the weekend.
  14. Long weekend sounds good and obviously when the weather is better!! Stew 64 did it earlier on this year, but didn't travel on any motorways and did it over 3 days. Can't quite remember how long it is, but we can sort that out at a later date. We could just do with getting numbers and a date sorted out!
  15. Right I reckon we should start thinking/planning the proposed trip that some of us were gonna do this year. If we start now we could raise some cash for a charity and get the site some more publicity. Once again who's up for it??
  16. I'll be going on the last Saturday gotta take the kids along as it's become an annual event now! Thought we might get away with just me and Jackie going, but the kids have said otherwise!!!!
  17. O dear Chuck read the flippin whole page and not just the bits that makes you go ooo!!! (Riding abroad!!) That's the most rewarding thing!! You gotta go there to come back! (That's a Stereophonics album that is ya know! ) When you on about going????? And no you don't strap your bike down either, you stand nervously against it while it shakes about like a drunk!!! You have to stand poised ready to give a hand when she's about to fall over!! Good fun though!!!
  18. Count me and the missus in, depending on what time of year you're on abart going. Just a thought for you though, instead of the ferry you could take the chunnel. It only cost me and Jackie £46 and it only takes 35 minutes. If nobody has done it (riding abroad that is!) It is THE most rewarding and satisfying thing ever!
