  1. thats great it helps thy short arse
  2. I know it's a strange one really. Once you realise the clutch will kill the power by just pulling it in things become a lot easier especially at first. and using the back break at low speeds is also a good skill to learn as a beginner.
  3. i had a little go on my mates thundercat 600 yesterday just getting used to the weight and slow speed menouvering. I only went into second gear in an industrial estate weaving in and out of things etc. Tbh after I got over the fear of it shooting off at 100mph it was relatively easy. When your stationary you feel the weight when your moving you feel like your riding a lil pussycat but my god can these things move.

  6. yeah you had me confused there
  7. hi guys got my das and mod 1 + mod 2 booked now... just a few quick questions on mod 1 is it true since may 2011 you will not fail for doing less than 30mph the high speed swerve test and this is now just a minor? is this the same for the other speed parts of the test or just this particular exercise? thanks....im sure more questions will follow when i think of them!
  8. wish i was riding as your going past my house near enough
  9. I've booked my das training to start at the beginning of november. mod 2 will start beginning of dec. its penciled in, basically if i got the funds i do it if not then no training and no test! fingers crossed!! but if all goes to plan ill have my license before xmas! maybe me old woman will buy me a bike for xmas? lol
  10. just read this thread thats great news well done.
  11. if you want to split your das up or if you have to due to funding (i.e. pay for module 1 do it. save up pay for module 2) how long are you allowed between passing module 1 and doing your module 2?
  12. ok did my cbt last thursday and thought id add my story. tbh because of driving a car for a few years i found it relatively easy to control the bike and ride it on the road once i got used to getting my hands to do what my feet normally do. This took about 20-30 minutes and after a while i only stalled a couple more times i think this was mainly due to nerves and trying to rush. all i can say is stay calm and listen its pretty straight forward. if you drive already the laws of the road are pretty similar except for doing life savers but after a while this comes naturally....i even did a life saver in my car comming off the roundabout on the way home lol so any ways on with the story... i got to the cbt centre (in new addington) at around 8:50 at first i was the only one there and the guy was really nice made me a tea and talked to me in general and then about bikes. there was another guy due to do his cbt on a 50 twist and go but he turnt up late so we started the talk on bike gear etc without him. when he arrived we briefly went over what we already said and then took the bike(s) on and off the stand and were talked over basic controls and checks etc. then we went out onto a tennis court which is where they do it now (used to be in a playground but they moved) and firstly we walked the bikes round - easy as pie considering i thought id drop it. and then we started up and rode them about a bit doing various drills such as stopping between cones and doing a figure of 8. after this we did a pretend major to minor and minor to major turnings and doing U turns. we then did emergency stop and then went for some lunch.. after more talking we went out onto the road which was the best bit by far and i couldnt wait to get started. i was nervous at first because the other guy worked in a moped shop and seemed to know more than me but in fact i dont think he did and he was just blagging to look the part...he admitted after he was to worried to do his cbt on a geared like i did. we just did the same sort of things as the tennis court but on the road...minor to major major to minor U turns no emergency stop though...things like that after about 2 hours on the road we went back and got our certificates...the guy training said i did really well and congratulations etc....then we spoke about the das and i went home the end
  13. Did my cbt yest and have to admit I took to it quite well after I figured out how to get my hands to do what my feet usually do! On the road part it all seemed to come to me like second nature a lot of driving has helped with this. I've already done the theory so next steps saving up for the das! Can't wait although it may take a while
  14. Hi guys passed my bike theory so now I'm looking forward to my cbt. Will keep you posted. Thanks for the support
  15. is it "safe" and often quite common for new riders to straight from doing a cbt onto a das course? my dad always tells me experience counts for a lot when it comes to riding and i dont want to silly and go straight from my cbt into doing a das and then having an major off a week into riding a "big" bike.
  16. theorys tomorrow, when I did my car one it was less questions. I've been practising and should be fine but also quite nervous, I get like that when going to an unfamiliar place around "strangers" even if it is only briefly. Wish me luck this is the start of the road to a full unrestricted license!
  17. well done im about to do my theory (on the 9th) and cbt (22nd) of next month so im kind of in the same boat as you. im sure the waiting will be worth it
  18. Thats true i'm only 21 so i've got a few years left in me yet lol thanks for the replies guys will keep everyone posted.
  19. I know it's not a big deal to you guys but it's baby steps atm for me and i'm really excited. I've booked my theory for the 9th sept and cbt for 22nd sept. I'm then hoping to move onto my DAS. It will be a while yet til i'm on a big bike but will be worth the wait....as I said, baby steps. Any advice for the cbt? (I've already got my full drivers license so i'm familiar with the theory and i've been practising the bike one).
  20. i hate to say it but if you hit some one up the back side its ALWAYS your fault regardless of the circumstances because you should ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS leave enough space and be travelling at the right speed to stop in time. even if its snowing and you skid down the road and hit some one up the arse its your fault tbh. harsh, but its reality. if some one is parked on the brow of a hill or something stupid thats different. but if you pull up to a round about and some one smacks you up the arse because there expecting you to move its there fault.
  21. thanks for clearing up the confusion guys!
  22. i have a full drivers license and im almost certain thats ok to do my cbt on. (as it has provisional entitlement for a bike on it) will i need to apply for a new bike license to do my actual bike test though (i.e mod 1 and mod 2) or will my full uk drivers license be ok?
  23. ok sounds good, plan of action is... cbt soon>get practise in>theory>das sound good? p.s ive just got off the phone to a local motorbike school and they said doing it the way i suggested is fine so think i'll go for that option. thanks guys!
  24. I was going to say. Can I do my CBT then after a while do my DAS? (with the theory in between). also im 21 atm so 22 in oct
  25. i think im going to do my das around my bday 23rd of oct. Was just wondering will I need to do my cbt before hand or will I do that then move onto the das? will it be in the same day? David
