Well I'll be going 2nd hand, and will an end can not improve the sound? I want to keep it legal, so not sure about drilling holes. edit http://www.mandp.co.uk/productinfo.aspx ... otad-Venom Like this one, I selected my bike from a drop down list, and it says this will fit, but is it vfr specific, or universal? Its easy to search from websites, but not from ebay.

OK so my vfr has a very quiet exhaust fitted, by the previous owner, so it wouldn't annoy his neighbours. I'm after something louder (I was hit by someone recently, who couldn't see me, maybe he would have heard me), but road legal. I'm confused by what I need, there seem to be vfr specific cans with link pipes, vfr cans with no link pipes, and universal stuff as well. Most of the research I've done has just been referring people to specific brands websites, but I need to do this on the cheap, ie ebay. So, what will fit my vfr (vfr800 98)? Do I need to find out the diameter, and will universals fit onto the hanger? Maybe theres a budget, simple, road legal exhaust out there, but I don't know what to search for. Budget ~150 Thanks!

Here's my journey too and from work, need to make a more secure mount, as at the minute I'm using an elasticated strap, shakes quite a lot. "> "> Qualities not too bad, but will do for insurance purposes. Sound is ridiculous, bike sounds like a jet. edit - battery should last 3 hours, haven't tested this.

Suffolk, Ipswich & surrounding areas

I've only ever ridden solo, and only had a proper bike for 6 months, so no idea if I'd keep up, but if you don't mind being slowed down (maybe), then count me in. -

You sure that its all they way out? I've got a caberg ego and it rests on my nose, gfs does the same. If anything it comes too far down. -
After a recent crash, where it looks like I will be taking 50-50 liability, when it was not my fault at all (I was reversed into while I was stationary), I have decided to get a camera. I have heard a lot about gopro, and reviews are excellent, but google is coming up blank on the main feature I want, looped recording. I want a zero maintenance system, hook it up and forget about it. I'll charge it off of the bike battery, and I want a camera that will record in say 15 minute chunks, and rewrite over the oldest. On a 32gb card, I'm guessing that would be 8ish hours. The go pro has auto-on, ie it turns itself on when it receives power, which is the other feature I need. Surely everyone with dash cams mounted aren't pulling it off everyday/week to delete old footage? Can anyone tell me if any of the go pros have looped recording? Maybe it is called something different? Or if anyone can recommend me a camera that does what I need. -looped recording -auto on/off -waterproof -bike mountable Thanks James

MOT centre in Ipswich - can anyone recommend one?
crowther7689 replied to crowther7689's topic in Pitstop
Ended up going to Davey Bros in Ipswich, nice little garage, had some nice old bikes there. Friendly, fast, what more can you ask for. Only 2 advisories, need a new rear tyre after 2k miles . Will be using them again. -
I know we've got a few bikers from Ipswich, can anyone recommend somewhere to get an MOT done? Orwell's are booked up till the 12th of may, which is when mine runs out, so not ideal. I used Chris Selfs for my last and only MOT, and didn't really get on with them. I'm a bit wary of picking one at random. Thanks James

Remember that failing isn't the end of the world. You can try again and again...like I did unfortunately.

Failed my CBT but.......
crowther7689 replied to rew632's topic in CBT, Test and Advanced Training Information
I found that having been commuting on a pushbike for years helped me as I already knew where to be on round abouts etc, and was already doing lifesavers. Maybe get out on a push bike if you can, and copy what you can from the cbt? Just an idea. -
I passed on Saturday but failed three times before that. Once for turning my indicator off too late after leaving a roundabout, once for leaving it on after leaving a sliproad, and once for going too fast too close to a line of parked cars. Hope you can take something from that, good luck!

Passed my mod 2!
crowther7689 replied to crowther7689's topic in CBT, Test and Advanced Training Information
Thanks everybody, cant wait to get on something bigger. So nice to get the L plates off, getting loads more nods. I think it cost me about £800, as I had two goes at mod 1, and 4 at mod 2, with a few hours training. Not too bad... -
Got a screw sticking out of my back tyre. Just been to chris selfs, and they can't fit me in untill Monday, I don't like Orwells, anywhere else in Ipswich that will take off a rear tyre and plug it? Thanks James edit, got it fixed

Well fourth time lucky, I passed my mod 2! Was cold and the sun was blinding, but all want well. Finally! Now to sell my baby vara, and get a vfr. All the stuff on here was a big help, so, thanks all!

I've got the same bike, same year, and completely agree with the above. Another downside is no center stand, costs £100ish.

Mod 2 troubles
crowther7689 replied to crowther7689's topic in CBT, Test and Advanced Training Information
Well I failed. Turned off the indicator too late after a roundabout after going past a tiny side road. Autofail. 2 minors, I stalled it at the start, and pulled up by a stop sign. So really good ride apart from the one bloody late indicator! Gutted. -

Are you sure it isn't too loose for you? If the strap was already firm enough the helmet shouldn't move that much. Good luck for Friday I've lost a couple of stone is all I can put it down to, face is deffinitely thinner. I've got four more to lose, new helmet time soon I think -

Mod 2 troubles

Thanks for the kind words and advice. Just got back from another 2 hour session. Went much better. I was talking through everything out loud, felt a bit err insane, but seemed to work. My only major was for doing 55 on a slip road, where I should have been doing 60+. Didn't miss a check or indicator at all, so much happier. One mad panic moment, when pulling back in after over taking, doing 70, I did a lifesaver and my helmet caught the wind and jumped about 3 inches up my face! Was just about blind. Have now tightened up chin strap, but it was already pretty firm...very scary. It was pissing down and windy again, just my luck. Got my test on Friday, and feeling a lot better about it now, no more training, just got to get it right. -
Just got back from my first mod 2 training(500), and my test is on Friday. In two hours, I got 6 majors. Failure to cancel indicators 3 times, failure to get up to speed quick enough on a 70 road (it was pissing down and really windy), and 2 left hand turns without doing lifesavers. I was hoping to get away with one training session, but it looks like I'm going to need another. Pretty disheartened now as I thought I'd sale through mod 2, as I've been on the road for 10 months now. My plan is to retrace the training route as best I can remember, as many times as I can this week, and focus on the cockups. But its so different between my 125, and the 500 test bike. Also when he said follow signs "for all traffic" I thought he was saying "football traffic", so I was pretty confused and headed for the stadium My visor kept fogging up badly, so I'll get that sorted, really distracting. Any tips? Think I'm likely to pass after such a disastrous first session?
