  1. I would guess it depends on the examiner and how much of a cock he is. If he thinks his way is right and will fail anyone for not filtering then thats bad luck. Personally I would think of filtering as a choice. Some people take the risk of filtering to make extra progress, others are happy to sit in traffic.
  2. Ok so I have been preparing for my theory for about a month now and today was my test. I got 49 out of 50 for the multiple choice which is fine... And then 63 out of 75 for hazard perception test, but this is where i am not happy. I was doing fine until the 10th clip (out of 14)... apparently I clicked too much so got disqualified for that clip and recieved zero points out of 5 for it. But i was doing well... i spotted the hazard well in advance and was surely going to get 4 or 5 points for it... then my final click was because there was a big truck parked in a lay-by on the dual carridgeway which i clicked as a "potential hazard". That annoyed me... but i passed at the end of the day.

    Re: clutch lever

I have a question on this topic toooooooo. I just adjusted my clutch using the above method. At first i was turning it towards me, but i soon figured that was making the clutch looser and the biting point even closer to the handle bars. So i started to turn it the other way.... and it got tighter and tigher, now my biting point is about half way between the handle bars and the clutches resting position. I wanted to turn it more and make it tigher.... but i was scared the thing your twisting would pop out. How far will they actually come out before it pops out?
  4. I have been searching google trying to find something to make my mirrors extend out more on my YBR 125. I cant find anything. Does anyone have any suggestions or links that may be useful?
  5. ok well if i find the pump i am going to experiment with different pressures this afternoon. i shall report back with my findings lol haha going to try about 35psi see how that feels.
  6. no its defo not a typo the same numbers were on the sticker on the side of the bike... and in my manual... and in the american manual i downloaded last night. but yes it is a big difference. what about the pump? will i be alright with any pump? stupid question i know.... but i wanna do things right lol.
  7. Sorry in advance for another stupid question about my tyre pressure. Ive just been reading my bike manual for my YBR 125 and it says as follows with regards to tyre pressure: (0 - 198lbs) (I guess this means the combined weight of the rider + his luggage) Front = 25psi Back = 29psi (198lbs - 337lbs) Front = 25psi Back = 41psi Now i am roughly 50lbs heavier than 198lbs... so dont know what to do with my tyres. I want them to be at the proper pressure. Before i had my off i never touched them... i just left them how the shop had them... and got along fine, but since ive got back on ive felt so unstable. My biggest fear is slipping and taking a tumble again. I know i fell on tram lines before, but every bump or pot hole or manhole cover or scars on the road surface scare the shite out of me. Right now my front is about 24 - 25psi and my back 28 - 29psi. How do you guys think i should inflate my tyres? Also will a normal electronic car type pump do the job? Or a foot pump? I am not sure what pump I have here, but i will find it today.
  8. That was just a typo. The back is suppose to be 29 and the front 25.... probably slightly higher for a heavy object like me. As for the stupid thing, i finally managed to take it off haha the bike looks so much better now. Thanks for spotting that thing i didnt spot haha. The reason it took so long is my father in laws garage is just bloody terrible. Took me ages to find the right tool, because i needed a ratchet not a screw driver like i first assumed. Either way, the thing is off
  9. I hate you But thanks lol What happened to our ride out today lol? i checked my tyres too... the garage pump said they were 28 rear and 24 front... they supposed to be 19 rear and 25 front... but the gauge is accurate to within 0.5 psi , so so far tyres are looking ok.
  10. Now i know this post is going to make me look and sound even more useless than i usually do... BUT When i bought my bike (and knew nothing about bikes), i ended up buying it with a topbox due to a suggestion by my dad who thought it would be useful for getting my things to work. Truth is ive never used the sodding thing and it has rarely ever even been attached to my bike. I just use my backpack for work stuff. Below is a picture of the ugly thing attached to the back of my bike that the topbox clips onto.... http://img35.imageshack.us/i/imag0140d.jpg/ And here is a picture of the bolt things I cant undo!!!! http://img696.imageshack.us/i/imag0141n.jpg/ http://img138.imageshack.us/i/imag0142e.jpg/ They are not tight, but when i turn them it turns the screw they are attached too as well! And there is no access to the top of the screw to hold it in place. I have tried using a pair of pliers to hold the screw from the bottom but that is proving ineffecive too. Its hard to do this with my dodgey wrist. Anyone got any suggestions on how i can get this ugly thing off my damn bike once and for all? PS: I didnt fit it, some idiot sales guy from an official yamaha dealership fitted it.
  11. Lucky for you ey! Work experience opposite your house Almost directly! Catie bought one which is like a key ring one, it cost about 7 quid, which is pretty expensive, but if we went anywhere else it would cost us a fiver in petrol lol. Im going to test my pressures in the morning before trying to remove the topbox clip thing from the back of my bike I just had a blast around the estate and the back still feels a little low, but maybe its just me been sensitive and paranoid. Like i said my confidence seems shot to pieces.
  12. I tried using my grandads halfords digital tyre pressure gauge today on my yamaha YBR 125... the reading seemed to be all over the place, and my tyres seemed to need air. In the end i took it to a petrol station and used the machine. Just popped into halfords too and they sell a tyre pressure gauge for motorcycles.... But its 15 quid! I really dont have money to burn right now
  13. Where would you suggest i get such insurance? Thanks for your post btw...
  14. I am thinking of ideas of how i can protect my laptop in my rucksack while riding my bike? One of my biggest fears is not only falling off, but falling off with my laptop on my back lol £1000 smashed to pieces, id rather break my bones. I use my laptop at work, but am considering reducing the amount of times i take it to work with me, i will take my laptop one day, then my portable tv the next day (the tv is only worth 100 quid). Before i came off my bike last year i used to use a normal every day rucksack on my back and carry my laptop in that for work. Once i was so half asleep at 6am in the morning after a 16 hour shift... i rode home with my rucksack open with my laptop inside it (irrelevant story i know, but it is funny to me now). So what suggestions do you have?
  15. I should be getting my bike back tomorrow and will be riding it for the first time since my off last november. I am a little nervous about it, my biggest fear been slipping in the wet or on rounderbouts (despite the fact i fell off by been stupid enough to try and cross tram lines to change lanes). The tyres on the 2010 YBR are pathetically thin and wimpy never mind the fact they are seen as crap in general. I know i have the option of getting some michelin pilot sporty tyres which will fit but i think they are the same width as the tyres i have on it now... i want something a littler thicker. Good old bullet thinks it is possible, i am just looking for a variety of opinions.
  16. You really know how to have a good time dont you lol.
  17. Advice: Save the wheelie popping for when you have passed your test.
  18. That is the only product you need. What I have been doing is completing all the practise tests (theres 59 of them) covering every question, if you dont know the answer you can get a hint or read the relevant section of the highway code helping you learn what you dont know. When you finish those, do a mock test... then look at what sections are your weakest points and set up some custom practise tests for those categories. Also there is every single official hazzard perception videos on the DVD so you can get all the training you need for that. If you dont pass after doing all that........ it must be something to do with nerves or bad luck.
  19. UPDATE -------- Took it down to tyre place today had the tracking and the balance done, also got 2 new front tyres as the old ones were apparently stamped from 1993, either way they were cracking. So yes expensive fix for a puncture. £115 for 2 tyres fitted plus tracking and balance. Now we are heading down to a scrap yard tomorrow to get a few new wheels. That wont be as expensive, only a tenner per wheel. Either way thanks for the advice guys, really helped.
  20. Calling the local quick fit at ten when they open. She wants to get it sorted asap, despite it been a sunday, and her birthday lol. I told her an old car would be a money pit lol. Not that we could afford a new one.
  21. Thanks for the replies guys, other people (family members) have said the same things just about. The tire pressure on the spare wasnt checked, and to be honest its a much older tyre than the other 3. It has a legal amount of tread on it, but its worn enough for anyone to look at replacing it. So i guess that could have some effect. We are gonna try getting it in the garage in the morning, i know its a sunday but you never know. If not, she is at home monday so all will be good. I am just glad i was with her when it happened, she panicked a lot. We must av been going 1.5 miles on a flat tyre. What do you rekkon the smoke around the wheel was when we stopped? You could not see the smoke from inside the car, it wasnt that bad. I am guessing it was the heat of the flat tyre going maybe 2 miles. Who knows, either way will get it into a garage.
  22. I was out with my gf in her peugeot 306 XL (1993 - L reg) today, i noticed it felt a little bumpier than usual on my side of the car, i said when we stop im going to check the tyres. Next thing we are going along a dual carridgeway at 50+ and the car starts to shake pretty violently including the steering wheel. We slowed down and it stopped, so we go round a rounderbout and then we hear the scrape of the rim on the road, so i get her to pull over... hazzards on. Left front tyre flat as a pancake by now bit of smoke around it. As suspected. At this point we were still on the parkway (very busy road), but near an exit. We called family for help, ended up slowly driving it off the next exit and parking it up. A bit more smoke, but not as much as the first time we stopped. So yes we went round all the local garages (4.30pm on a saturday), need a new rim as the rim was dented, like she has hit something (probably a curb). We could get a tire but no rim. Anyway eventually she called her step dad who found the cars spare tyre in his garage (the car belonged to her brother before her, shes only had it about a month). So yes we fit the spare tyre and away we go. On the way home we noticed the steering wheel was very very twitchy, especially at low speeds, at higher speeds it calmed down. She said the car was pulling slightly to the left. Its probably going into a garage monday, but im looking for advice and clues on what is up? I know this is a bike forum, but i thought we be like family on here so who else would i turn to? Thanks in advance for your help.
  23. Yeah again I suggest getting... "DRIVING TEST SUCCESS" DVD It works in your PC and trust me whether your doing car theory or bike theory that DVD is all you need. It has all the official questions for 2011... and it has all 15 of the hazzard videos they use on the actual test and lets you practice like a real test (PS: I am not sure if the real test shows you 15 videos or just 5 of them, but I know they are all on that DVD, so you can do them 100x before you spend more money on a theory test).
  24. I dont think it matters what age you are, it feels great to go for a nice drive in a car but its a totally different experience when youve got a machine between your legs and your blasting around on it, totally different. Just remember that safety is whats important.
  25. For the original poster... I dont have the official government DVD.. I have "DRIVING TEST SUCCESS - 2011 EDITION" http://www.amazon.co.uk/Driving-Test-Su ... 453&sr=8-1 It is brilliant. Both for learning bike theory and car theory. I did a mock car theory test and was a few marks away from passing the theory part, but i did pass the hazzard perception part. The dvd does allow you to practice like your doing the real test. For the money you cant go wrong. Bin that official government rubbish!
