  1. It just comes with a nut and bolt to go through the hole you drill. Scrap that idea, thanks.
  2. Has anyone fitted one of these? http://www.bikedevils.com/ekmps/shops/bikedevils/images/bike-it-luggage-hooks-carrier-xl-bike-it-bikeit-bungee-1492-p.jpg It means drilling through the plastic fairing. Can the fairing take it? Does it just depend?
  3. I hand washed the lining of my helemt, it suggested i could put it in the washing machine, but with the thin plastic edges it did not seem a good idea. As for other kit, Nikwax http://www.nikwax.com/en-gb/index.php which I have used for years on loads of stuff with no problems. As for cleaning my tip, I use a tissue.
  4. When adjusted the chain on my bike I found that I had to adjust the drum brake as well. It took ages to get it just right and I had to finish off at the side of the road as I found it was overheating and sticking. When I got it spot, if anyone was in one of the houses I was topped at saw me, they would have wondered what was going on as I punched the air in celebration. Good luck with all your mechanical adventures, I too have adjusted my chain and brake by default and feel like a mechanical god!
  5. I stand corrected, Almax is the top chain, the cheapest with a lock is about £140. http://www.almax-security-chains.co.uk/ ... ts/c-1-73/
  6. It was £20 out of Hein Gericke and works well with the purpose made motorbike security rails in Glasgow and Paisley.
  7. Some chains cannot be chopped with bolt cutters eh! Think again........ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VC3hFr8p ... detailpage ...all cut in pretty much silence.
  8. I use one of these instead of a disc lock when I am out and about. It is a gold colour and I can either attach it to something or I put it through the wheel and rounfd the top of the mudguard so it is clearly visible. http://www.oxprod.com/photo.php?maxx=250&id=201
  9. First, make sure the lock will fit your disc, more of an issue if you have a smaller bike such as a 125cc.
  10. Any Thatcham rated and insurance company approved chain will do as all chains can be cut.
  11. The battery in my radio failed during my Mod 2 and I just stopped at a junction and pointed to my helemt. I was asked to pull in at the side of the road and he went to get another battery. I would own up to the problem and ask for a radio test to make sure you can hear the instructor at speed.
  12. No cancellations, alternative dates I can't get off work, I will have to wait 6 weeks to try my Mod 2 again, f**k it!
  13. Oooo, lust....... http://www.urban-artrock.com/pics/studio-garage.jpg
  14. Second that, have had my Motrax Delux now over a year and a half. Unlike the Oxford one which ripped during the Winter 2 years ago, the Motrax is much better made, and was more than fine during the Winter, covers the whole bike completely, has a strap that connects under the middle of the bike, and has slots either end of it for chain to go through. Also when I got mine it should of been £45 but was on sale for £20 so was a bargain, keep an eye out online for one! Mine has now shown signs of fading in the sun with the top of the cover going a silvery grey. It is in the sun for much of the day. It survived the summer high winds with no issues. I think the holes for bar end straps means air can escape out of the top of the cover.

    Don't laugh

You tube is your friend http://www.youtube.com/results?search_q ... ike+chain+
  16. Edit - mixed up post.
  17. Check out you tube for some very good videos on how to maintain your chain. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=80CESYb6 ... detailpage
  18. Stunning, Polecat, seriously the bike now looks stunning, brilliant job and superb thread
  19. Thanks Sparky, but I would have to change riding schools again for that. I do still have my YBR meantime.
  20. Yes, turned out of Shieldhall, up to the round a bout, past Braehead into Deanpark and sailed through a compulsory 20mph zone at 30mph at Arklestone Primary. I have driven past that school for 10 plus years now and had not noticed it is the only one where the limit is compulsory. So you are supposed to do 20mph at 4 in the morning during summer holidays!! So 5 minutes in and I knew I had failed as the examiner pointed out my mistake at teh time. I continued on for the practice. My mistake, but it is the long wait to try again that is f**k it!
  21. Failed Mod 2 and unless others fail their Mod 1 it is a six week wait for another go f**k it!
  22. The flip down sun visor is not illegal at all. I ride a lot in the mornings and evenings when the sun is low in the sky and find them essential. http://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/product_images/v2-407_gunmetal.jpg There is a slider on the top of the helmet and it is easy to wipe your hand across the helemt to get the visor up and down.
  23. Ah, yes and I am scuppered as I need to the registered keeper, which I am not as yet. Thanks anyway. I have phoned my insurance company to ask if they would give me a cover note, they said no but can maybe rush through the policy and e-mail it straight away, so fingers crossed. So F**k it to the last keeper who wanted a few pounds out of the £53 it costs for a years tax.
  24. Thanks I'll have a look at that. The DVLA do check to see if the bike is insured though and will not tax it if they cannot find any cover with their database.
