  1. Apologies, I assumed it was under the same principle of slow moving vehicles such as tractors using flashing amber lights as a warning. I think hazrds when towing are a good idea.
  2. You can use hazard warning lights when towing on a 70mph speed limit road. http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/TravelAndTr ... /DG_070302
  3. Poor Ed slaving away in the background. I hope you made him a nice cup of coffee!
  4. Yes, depending on your bikes engine and gears approach the junction in 1st, maybe 2nd so you can either stop or continue.
  5. I am very happy with my RST jeans, £60 at the Scottish Motorbike show.
  6. Was the acid treatment a paint on job like nitromors, or did you make up an acid bath?
  7. After my dismal CBT, (I don't know why the instructor gave me a certificate) I was sure the route for me was time and lessons and to get my own bike. Seven months later, numerous cancelled lessons/tests, I am thinking maybe I should bite the bullet and blast it in a week.
  8. Still another 2 weeks till I can try and sit my Mod1 again. And my new bike is just sitting there f**k it!
  9. Derbi have a couple of '15hp' learner legal bikes, but you cannot use them to sit your test on. Unless KTM argue their case with the DSA they will be the same.
  10. Balgrochan near Lennoxtown, up Crow Rd and over the Campsies, then down through Fintry avoiding the pot holes and then a great run to Killearn. http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&sourc ... =UTF8&z=12
  11. The max is 11kW or 14.7 hp. Unless it appears on this list (which it doesn't at present) you would need to argue your case be able to use it to sit your tests on http://www.direct.gov.uk/prod_consum_dg ... 197021.pdf
  12. Booked my bike in for a service and new chain a week ago. Dropped it off this morning and just got a phone call to say the chain has still not arrived and they need to keep it till tomorrow. Epic fail MCS Renfrew, I gave you a week to order a chain f**k it!
  13. It looks really mean, but can you get a less colouful version?
  14. Here is a superb biker road, running from Crieff to the Pool of Muckhart. You go through Glen Eagles and past the famous hotel and through the gold course and then dive down into Glen Devon. The raod surface is great and the twist and turns make for a very entertaining run. http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&sourc ... =UTF8&z=10 http://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/perthshire/3_25/3_25_1.JPG
  15. This brings back fond memories of helping a friend to restore a Villiers (never finished and returned to its owner, a relative of my mates) and then his first 125, a Suzuki I think. He would do the mechanical work and I would clean. I love cleaning and painting. I cant wait to see the the tank being transformed back to lovely painted and shiney.

    bike care

I spray my bike with ACF 50 and I wash it regularly with liquid Swarfega sprayed on with the Muck Off bottle I have. Muck Off also works well but is more expensive. I try and avoid putting a wet bike under the cover. I still get spots of rust and I treat them with Kurust and Halfords VHT paint (my frame is black) asap. There is no subsitute to elbow grease and keeping your bike clean and dry as much as possible. I have also found Silkoline Chain Lub, which goes on like a foam is very good at keeping crud and surface rust at bay on your chain. It stands up well to getting wet.
  17. You could try planking, it is apprently the new rage
  18. Re people at the side of the road. If they on the pavement just walking along they are not a hazard. But if they are like a car waiting at a junstion and could be in a position to cross they are.
  19. Last dat of my holiday. Hardly any time spent on my bike due to the crap weather and my test was cancelled. F**k it!
  20. I was trying to show Talister where the Dukes Pass is in relation to the Borders, I had noticed Dukes Pass in the original post, but not Borders. I suspect you would come to the route off the Edinburgh by-pass It would be a good run for you Revs and you can loop round back through Dunblane. It was part of my recent three day treck on my 125. I continued on from The Dukes Pass and went up to Aberfeldy and back down to Dollar through Glen Eagles and Glen Devon, also superb biking roads.
  21. Borders Run?! Unless there is another Dukes Pass you have quite a treck to get to Aberfoyle which is central Scotland.....it is 55 miles from Edinburgh to Aberfoyle. http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=Edinburgh&daddr=Aberfoyle,+Stirling&hl=en&geocode=FWC7VQMdsFzP_ykjJpilALiHSDEnF-d8exTyZA%3BFd0xWQMdIjS9_ynvPLeQcPeISDENF_VVofMqVA&mra=ls&sll=56.249454,-3.581543&sspn=1.464953,5.31189&ie=UTF8&ll=56.081232,-3.805389&spn=0.367834,1.327972&z=10
  22. Hi The Dukes Pass is from Aberfoyle to The Trossachs. It is only about 5 miles long, but brilliant to ride. http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=Aberfoyle,+Stirling&daddr=Trossachs,+Callander&hl=en&geocode=Fd0xWQMdIjS9_ynvPLeQcPeISDENF_VVofMqVA%3BFWH6WQMdjsm8_ymnSciGDPqISDHrG0_V3TFTFA&mra=ls&sll=56.186839,-4.354019&sspn=0.183412,0.663986&ie=UTF8&ll=56.208041,-4.286041&spn=0.091655,0.462799&z=12 As for the rest of the milage, it depends on which direction you are coming from.
  23. Even though they are a hazard in the real world, manhole covers and standing water does not appear to be a hazard in the test. One one part I clicked on a few as literally nothing else was happening. I got my lowest score for that one. My understanding is that if you see someone at the side of the road you do click as they are a potential hazard and if they walk out you click again as they are now a hazrd.
  24. If I google free hazard perception I get a few results where the site offers one or two as a taster to then get you to buy more. I did all the free ones.
  25. It is progressing beautifully. I love the spray bay idea
