  1. I cannot think of any law that stops you from doing that. You may be liable to a ticket for where you are parked so that you can chain the bike to the lamp post.
  2. The plan is Tuesday coming, the 5th. Ride down aiming for Keswick about 12 and then doing the passes finishing in Windermere and finding somewhere to stay the night.
  3. Ride one of four 2013 bikes, the Ninja 300, Z800, Z800 e version (meaning it restricted), ZX-6R. Depending on what dealer you go through they may be others available to try. http://www.kawasaki.co.uk/demoweekend I have sent a request to try the Z800
  4. Wanlockhead and the mining museum is on the map as a tag, but not on the list for Scotland.
  5. I plan to do the north west next week. Tuesday will be home to do the various passes and find somewhere to stay in the Lake District. I figure this time of year there should be no problems just turning up, so long as I have a bed and a bar I don't mind. Next day Settle down to Bollington and again find somewhere to stay. Next day Jordrell Bank, Southport and then head home, stopping if I feel like it and doing some Borders tags.
  6. I have armoured textile trousers with air vents and a thermal lining. For the hot weather I have armoured jeans and in case of downpour waterproof over trousers. Textiles with vents and a lining will do all year round if you don't ride all of the time.
  7. Thatcham rated is my suggestion for what to look for. I use this one http://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcy ... prod/74294
  8. So long as the chain and lock are Thatcham approved, I think you have done about as much as you can do.
  9. Thanks Stu. I am battered and bruised having slid on my front along the road on the mud. The pannier cover, handguard, screen and one bit of the fairing need replacing, estimate £200 as I ahve the original screen. The crash bung and bottom of the front fork should be recoverable so long I don't mind (which I don't) minor scratches still showing. It was a beautiful day, still that point!
  10. One step too far unfortunately, as I slid on mud on the south Lock Tay road after doing the Falls of Dochart. I was going to go to the big hedge at Blairgowrie next, but another time. I got help after my spill here http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_Revi ... otlan.html so if you are going that way, they do a super coffee and are very biker friendly.
  11. Front wheel slide on mud on the Versys. Battered, bruised and the bike needs a cosmetic make over. The crash bung and pannier survived very well, scrapes, but the handguard broke away and managed to snap the screen down the middle. I should have stayed with the KLE with its knobbly tyres, or not gone down the muddy single track road. F**k it!
  12. The Falls of Dochart, Killin http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8508/8453552898_9eff89e1ac_c.jpg
  13. Its arrived and been fitted. The locking system is clever, hopefully it will loosen up with use. Very well made with thicker plastic than the universal boxes (sold by loads of makers who just replace the logo on the top) like this
  14. I have just bought one, the 32l version which comes with this image http://images.esellerpro.com/2347/I/883/87/WM1.jpg and the dimensions of 32cm x 42cm x42cm, which will fit my flip front L helmet.
  15. I'm in the lead with 30 points.
  16. Thats them now in the bin, January 2013 after very regular use. The trousers split at the seem at the hip, both sides. I was able to sew the split back up, but it was never going to last. The jacket, despite Nikwaxing was wetting out even in a drizzel and the zip to attach jacket to trousers had bust. I would still recommend then as great starter gear.
  17. Great review, needs a picture http://www.ajsmotorcycles.co.uk/new_ajs/docs/Eco-125/images/22.jpg

  20. I have had a crate of beer in mine! I have a couple of bungees which hook into the little gaps round the edge where the lid opens, looping under the rack. Close the lid and no one can remove the bungee as the end is tucked under the lid.
  21. I found when looking for a top box, they were all the same but with different labels on them. The rack can be a fiddle as the bolts could do with being a bit longer. This is how I fitted mine to my YBR. http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5253/5537382511_47e376ed7b_z.jpg I also got it fitted to my KLE
  22. I agree about the tyres, not good in anything damp, terrible in the wet.
  23. Lol, it is just out of sight across from the pine tree to the right in the photo I took. I was looking for it at the actual road junction. Nice run today, dry but the roads were filthy. The Falkirk battle monument took a bit of finding, it is at the end of Greenbank Rd near to the junction with Lochgreen Rd, Falkirk.
