  1. Have a like from me to try and make up for that
  2. I reckon thats the only position to photo White Nancy from, within a reasonable distance, maybe i should get up there before the residents start to complain!!! The real problem was my phone's camera. There was another better view from further away on a road, but with the whiteness of the Nancy and the white sky, I could not get it to to show in the photo.
  3. I love restoration threads, anything which gets a bike back on the road is brilliant.
  4. That sounds like your dipped light needs adjusting. There should be instructions in your owners manual and there will be a screw or bolt head you adjust to get the beam to move.
  5. I am maybe reading this wrong, but my bikes leave the dipped light on when main beam is switched on. I presumed that was so there was no gap, even a fraction of a second when there may be no light as the switch takes place. So the suiggestion here seems to be to get the dipped light to turn off when the main beam comes on. But how does that work with the cross over. I am going out to checdk some lights!
  6. I would check with a Kawasaki dealer as to how it should be and leave it at that. If you mess about with your lights it could be an MOT fail or no pay out in an accident as the insurance companies look for modoifications like that as a get out clause.
  7. My tip is to keep down the windchill, so this underneath your jacket for £25 http://www.spadaclothing.co.uk/productd ... es%20Black or this over your jacket, it is waterproof as well, for £35 http://www.spadaclothing.co.uk/productd ... 12%20Black
  8. You cannot have a pillion with L Plates, so that option is out. You can ride a 125cc on L Plates on your own after CBT and on the provisional licence. There is nothing to stop you from setting up a coms system whereby you are in radio contact with another rider, so your mate could follow you around whilst you chat. If you are going to be riding a bigger big with the Direct Access Scheme you have to be in radio contact with a qualified instructor.
  9. I am booked in at MCS on Sat 16th at 1430. If you are coming over on the Sunday, pop round anyway.
  10. Thats me booked in for the Z800.
  11. I agree Hammerite is a good fix, but it is temporary. I found on my bike I was getting 6 months or so and then needed to recoat. So I ended up removing bits and getting them powder coated. The side stand was £10 and the two passenger peg hangers were £15. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8052/8128050611_3fddb83395_c.jpg
  12. Lancashire has more speed traps than the whole of Scotland. I stayed off the motorway as much as I could on the return trip, the A6 over Shap is superb.

  15. Did the moorcock inn and the dales in dense fog. The ribble viaduct was a shape in the distance but the roads are great, even with the mud and speed traps. I see men with cloth caps have been replaced with ladies in burkas in Blackburn. I ended up in someones driveway to get a photo of thw White Nancy. Arrived at Jodrell Bank minutes after it closed but it is a spectacular site and the road past it is great. Now in a pub in Southport a street away from the carousel. Do I get a nice logo for my signature for the North West?
  16. Tomorrow I head south to what is commonly refered to as oop north. I will change my helmet for a flat cap snd need to find a whippet to blend in.
  17. Did the 5 Passes today. Hardknoft Pass is bonkers mental. I thought riding round the highlands and up to applecross would prepare me for this part of the trip. But that was very hard work and I did it at about 5 to 10 mph the whole way. I would hate to do it in anything other than perfect conditions. If you make amistake you could be in serious trouble. The rest was fine and fun. Did not stop at Kirkstone as there abunch of nutters getting bevvied up outsode, so now in Windermere in a b&b.
  18. Thanks for that suggestion, it would be nice to end the day there.
  19. I cannot think of any law that stops you from doing that. You may be liable to a ticket for where you are parked so that you can chain the bike to the lamp post.
  20. The plan is Tuesday coming, the 5th. Ride down aiming for Keswick about 12 and then doing the passes finishing in Windermere and finding somewhere to stay the night.
  21. Ride one of four 2013 bikes, the Ninja 300, Z800, Z800 e version (meaning it restricted), ZX-6R. Depending on what dealer you go through they may be others available to try. http://www.kawasaki.co.uk/demoweekend I have sent a request to try the Z800
  22. Wanlockhead and the mining museum is on the map as a tag, but not on the list for Scotland.
  23. I plan to do the north west next week. Tuesday will be home to do the various passes and find somewhere to stay in the Lake District. I figure this time of year there should be no problems just turning up, so long as I have a bed and a bar I don't mind. Next day Settle down to Bollington and again find somewhere to stay. Next day Jordrell Bank, Southport and then head home, stopping if I feel like it and doing some Borders tags.
  24. I have armoured textile trousers with air vents and a thermal lining. For the hot weather I have armoured jeans and in case of downpour waterproof over trousers. Textiles with vents and a lining will do all year round if you don't ride all of the time.
