  1. Btw that little spoiler on the mra screen really makes a difference on the motorways,I might just leave it as it is or get a bit more technical. forged pistons, high lift cams, play with ignition timing,advancer...?hrmmm  nah too much hastle when I could just buy a b12

  2. Stu them horns cost an arm and a leg man! Cheers for that zipster I have similar twin snail Horns but managed to put only one of em as I can't find a good place to mount the other one :-(

  3. I still think it's running a bit rich mate, as per the fuel consumption. Find out what jets are in it and I'll see if I have one or two sizes smaller?

Can't find pilot sizes but mains are: 97.5 on outter and 100 on inner cylinders alan.what do you think about the graph?

The dyno man suggested going with standard jets on te outter which are 92s,soneone else said sticking a direct replacement k&n will obviously increase flow n even things out

  4. Can anyone recommend a really loud horn? I've bought some snail horns which come as a twin(low and high note),not too keen so far firstly I got no room to fit both and if I did it's a bit hideous, looking for something compact which plugs straight on and scares the shit out of motorists where required 8-)

  5. Mr fro, Biscuits for us is a terminology for fine Whiskey ha

If I was gonna make it up I would made up the max power output too ;)

With regards to consumption as I recall it does about 40mpg urban as opposed to 46 before then it's a small price for having usable power n no flat spots ;)

Stu,that's exactly what we did before considering jetting we put washers n raised the needles after a few experiments in ran like a bag of poo,the current set up is with jets only I didn't put washers in as I think it'll richen up n it's a tad on the rich side as it is,also the fuel mixture screws are set as manual suggests which I think is 2 n 1/4 turn

  6. So being an automotive student I had access to dyno jet rolling road(by giving the technician biscuits lol). we've had had the bandit for a run,now this bike was all standard all round, the result was a noticeable flat spot at lower end of the rpm, after some thoughts we discovered this is happening at the transition from pilot to main jets, the air/fuel mixture was also near enough off the scale lean.Apparently they come out of the factory on the lean side in order to meet the EU emission regulations.

I had a look round for jetting kits, dynojet kits were ridiculously dear,so after some looking I found an engineering firm in the stares called 'sigma'. After having chat and discussing the bike they came up with stage 1 jets(cant remember the sizes off the top of my head). When I had them fitted, carbs were also balanced, we then took it for a run on dyno and that flat spot has disappeared and the power/torque delivery was consistent across the range, Although it is a bit on the rich side now(see graph),I might put standard jets on my outter cylinders or try direct replacement k&n but as it stands it had really transformed the bike especially at low rpm were we use it most commuting. I think the jets came at around £50 probably less than half the price of dyno jet,I can certainly recommend them to fellow bikers, look them up on ebay.

While I was there I rebuilt my brake calipers fitting inner and dust seals which kinda improved the braking but more importantly as you guys might know bandits are known for soft bouncy front end so to make it better I purchased hagon progressive forks, that really made a big difference to the handling of this motor especially when cornering and under hard braking.

  7. I decided to visit Spanky in Glasgow, I set off on Thursday morning on the M6,luckily the weather was on my side all the way.megawat was also in Scotland so he joined us the next morning,we had a fantastic rideout through some of the most beutiful Scottish roads. I covered over 650 miles in 3days,touch wood the old bandit ran like a Swiss watch.

All in all I had a fantastic time, special thanks to Spanky and kathster for their great hospitality and also grumpy Alan who didn't fail to put a smile on our face. Here's a slide show highlighting the trip :-)

  8. Bandit are known for their soft front end,to cure it I got hagon progressive springs with new oil,I must admit the bike is now 40% stiffer and made a noticeable difference to front braking and handling of my motor, possibly the best upgrade on a bandit :-)

I recommend cjaccesories, enter FORUM10 when ordering to get 10% off

  9. Hi chaps, after having a chat with 'stu' I realized if paid £15 by PayPal £2 goes for transaction charges and since I've been screwed enough by PayPal I decided to send a cheque for £15 or cash so that £2 that could have gone into paypal's deep pockets can go towards supporting our forum which so far helped me a lot.

So I was wondering if others like to follow this move,if you haven't got a cheque book you can still send cash or postal orders.

I'm sure each one us got something out of this forum and its nice to support it.

Your donations are very much appreciated. :-)

  10. Hi chaps,I'm looking to add a bit of bling and protection to the bandit by adding some nice chrome engine bars. Now here's the dilemma,I've sourced a couple second hand on the flea bay and they don't come with 'fitting kit'. Is this really required?longer bolts for instance?btw they are the ones with 3 point mounts.

I've been writting to bandit mania, wemotto and several eBay sellers for the fitting kit and so far no luck :-(

Is there a solution for this?

Ps. I know you can buy the bars new with fitting kit included but I don't wanna spend ur big buck just yet.

    Cheers

  11. Still an ongoing problem I'm afraid.the lever is pretty tight with no play when cold so I'm going to adjust it when cold and see how it goes.btw the suzuki owners manual says 10 to 15mm of clutch free play is required. This is the same resource that tells you and I quote: 'turning the throttle grip will result in increased speed' :-)

  12. Well it seems like Mr.Megawat is correct in this occasion.when going full lock there is a touch difference in free play.here's your lesson of the day: 'always adjust the cable with straight handlebars :-)

  13. Check routing on cable mate. May tighten with steering on full lock one way and slack the other way. Should be 3mm at the lever.

Yea will check with straight steering this time, does turning the handlebar actually make it tighter normally?i think i might have done the adjustment on full lock.

someone had a similar issue with a Harley and it was explained by clutch plates warming up causing the additional slack?

If it does, Ive never noticed it!

I had two bikes before this and never noticed it either, bit strange this
