  1. sorry i dont have an answer but would just like to say that's appalling quality i would do exactly the same and get the brit one aposed to the Chinese and would assume it was genuine with all stickers and codes and shiz but it really doesnt sound that way. anyways, how would you rate that lid? looking for a new one to replace my cheap crappy one i got to start riding, i am looking at AGVs but HJCs an option and would like your opinion cheers
  2. thanks alot guys will check the chain travel soon and will have a read through those links later on but by sounds of things am gonna need a new chain and sprocket as there is A LOT of travel haha also, could a loose chain / worn sprockets cause any slip with the drivetrain? As i thought the clutch was slipping under hard acceleration, this could not be the chain slipping on the sprockets could it? as im not too keen on replacing chain, sprockets and clutch plates, my pockets arent that deep haha thanks again
  3. im not sure on the chain tension for my zxr400 H1 (haven't acquired a manual yet) but i know i should not be able to touch the swingarm when pushing it up haha, and also there seems to be quite a lot of side to side movement aswell :/ it feels fine and i dont have any problem with the wheel locking, but it is massively loose as you can see it sagging haha, so would like to adjust it. could anyone advise me on how to tighten it correctly with regards to the chain having different tight and loose spots so will have to be tightened at a certain point but i am unsure where
  4. Locking the back wheel up on purpose is hilarious with a pillion, untill you deck it and look like an ass (not happened to me, YET) I think my back brake use would be 80/20 in dry and 10/90 in wet, never seem to lock it up, I did use to lock up the rear when changing down, occasionally, and only for the first few weeks This was only in a straight line so never had to think about recovering really, always terrified of locking the front in the wet haha
  5. Good stuff cheers for reply, will try and do somthing a bit longer like that sometime soon
  6. Had to ride up to Kirkby Steven on Friday, came back Sunday. My route went up to Kirkby Lonsdale, then the road to Sedbergh, and finally Kirkby Steven I had heard a out devils bridge but had no idea where it was, so was a happy coincidence I passed through, got a bacon butty early Friday morn, was pretty quite like, which was deffinetly a good thing with the nice quite roads Sunday afternoon on my way back though was a different story, I know that is when everyone goes but I didnt expect so many! The lay by where I stopped off on my own a few days earlier was filled with hundreds of bikes, was an amazing atmosphere and was some really really nice machinery there. Had really good blast around both times I was in the area and not only did I enjoy it so much I forgot to take pics, but I am positive it improved my riding, the way back was much smoother, and faster I would recommend any new rider (a good few months, and confident on their bike) who's bike is loosely aimed as a sportsbike to get up there and see what you think Enough of my first time excitement, I know it's a VERY popular place and most people reading this, it will be nothing new to you, if so then can you please inform me when is the best time to go, which are the best routes and other general banter
  7. My point here is not that everyone should be restricted, and I do agree that motorcycling is more dangerous, however I do not see the logic in becoming ever more strict on riders when, providing you have the money, you can blast around in whatever you want from 17. Nothing to drastic should be done but somthing similar to Motorcycle license, like restricted to under 120bhp for 2 years for under 21s And as far as I'm aware this is not a draft, it is happening in 2013
  8. i don't know how well known this information is just yet, might turn out that everyone reading this is already aware lol but i just found out today for now, the minimum age for direct access (not having a two year restriction) is 21, however in 2013, a long time i know, but this will be increasing to 24. i dont see the logic because as long as they can afford it, you may drive whatever you want at 17, around my area we have under 20s flying round in corsa VXRs and Focus STs and an exception i know, but a lad at 22 in a new audi RS4, and they all absolutely cane it everywhere, very dangerous. I think they should only be so strict on bike riders if they apply something similar to in-experienced car drivers as well.
  9. i failed with a serious fault on the 'moving off' section off the test where you pull up on the left behind a parked car and have to move back off safely the 'drill' is right shoulder check, right signal, move into the diagonal, then go if its clear, if not then turn signal off, back on when its clear, shoulder check then move off. so i moved into diagonal, turned signal off, waited for car to pass, then checked again, signal back on then went. examiner said it was unsafe to move into the diagonal, and that the car had to break hard as it thought i was pulling straight out. i saw it on the first check, and it did not break at all. the examiner was a proper wierdo and the same guy who failed me on my mod 1 a few weeks back. :/ and yes you get debriefed in a room and he explains all your minors and exactly why you failed, i got 2 minors, (you are allowed 10) for my front wheel bein over the white line at a set of traffic lights as it went to amber and i didnt think there was enough time to get through, and didn't want to break so hard that it was dangerous for anyone behind me (did mirror check first) and second as i would drft slightly over to the right before going straight across a mini round about, thing it was a subconscious effort to get further view down the road to the left. ^both my minors seam fair but i am really annoyed with the serious fault which cost me the test :/ will be booking my next test straight through the DSA and using my own bike, had enough of that training group
  10. just failed my mod 2 for the 'move away' maneuver, from behind a parked car. I did it exactly how i was taught, big right lifesaver, right signal, move to diagonal position, another big right lifesaver, then move out if its clear. if not clear then cancel signal and wait. This was my only serious fault, also got two minors but really pissed off with failing for doing something exactly how i was taught :@
  11. i know this is a fairly old post but would just like to add i had a quick read of the above and theres lots of mention about braking and cornering but i find if you take thinks at about 75% pace it is easy, and very quick to get used to, allowing double the braking time, and being very cautious in wet weather. Also I always tell them to go for a full on hug, (may squish my nuts on my lil 400) but stops me ending up with two legs under each armpit and my spare helmet bouncing off the road behind me when i accelerate quite hard. Also with more powerful bikes (not that mine is particularly powerful) watch for the front coming up under moderate to hard acceleration as its easier to flip and you can loose steering with so little weight over the front ride safe
  12. Cheers for advice, I failed my mod 1 first time round, couldn't believe it, the bike was a bag of crap and really struggled getting up to speed, got 47kph on the avoidance when I ragged the nuts of this ybr in 2nd, the managed 55kph on the retry and clipped a cone. Ah well, pissed it with no minors the 2nd time round but had made me more cautious about doin my mod 2 now. My CBT (5/6/2011) and all my two training days have been absolutely glorious days, really really enjoyed them hope the weather picks up for Monday, but i dont mind riding in the rain tbh, but will make things more difficult. Good luck with your retest mate, unlucky your first time round and I know how easy it is to switc your brain off when you think youve passed. But a lesson learnt I guess? Just a quick one un related to mod 2, when I failed my mod 1 my instructor was talking to me like I was really upset or a child or somthing. I wasn't assed, it was my fault and I wouldn't do it next time, but still was pissed off, I followed him and another student back to the base and ragged the shit out of their YBR haha, kept dropping back and blasting it in first gear, and seeing how far I could do skids immature and stupid but it helped calm me down
  13. cheers one thing i will mention is that a mate of mine failed his mod 2 a few weeks ago as he was rolling up to a crossroad junction VERY slowly and could see that it was safe each way, literally rolling about to put his foot down but as it was clear for miles and more than safe he just went. however the junction had a stop sign, so regardless of how clear it is you must stop and put a foot down. i know its clearly signed and somthing you might not expect to make a mistake on, but it is an easy thing to do if the coast is WELL clear however is a straight fail. the worst thing was that he had previously been banned from driving, so had to do a double test, which obviously cost twice as much, and then failed it, passed it second time but ended up spending £320 on mod 2 alone and is now about to be bent over and dry bummed, with a run up. for insurance on a gixxer six he wants. ah well
  14. Hi all, i have my module 2 coming up this monday, the 27th and was wandering if people could give me some pointers on what they picked up minors for or what people predominantly fail for. I am not nervous or overconfident, just ready
