Passed Mod2 today. Was really surprised because I missed a national speed limit sign, and took a very wide line around a cyclist. He said my riding was safe, but I feel it was probably one of the worst rides I have ever had. Didn't know the area either. Can get on the SV650 tomorrow once it is insured.

What to wear when taking my test?
olidavey replied to armyash's topic in CBT, Test and Advanced Training Information
People were taking tests from the Farnborough test centre wearing jeans, and work boots. The memo in the waiting room said you needed thick denim and ankle protection as a minimum. -

Mod 1 Failed NOW PASSED!!
olidavey replied to olidavey's topic in CBT, Test and Advanced Training Information
Passed, no minors. Now Mod2. -
You need to show hardship to OTHERS. Some thinking points, Do you have kids you need to take to school? Parents who need to go to hospital appointments? Old neighbour across the road you take to the shops? ETC.. A letter from your employer explaining the effect of you loosing your licence on the company and why they need you will help. Selling the motorbike is a good idea. Dress smart, most people who turn up wear trackies and a t-shirt, it doesn't give the right impression. - This is advice from a mag I know.

The guy doesn't lead when you do the slow speed exercise. Just aim for a slow walking pace. Use the rear break, half engage the clutch and give a decent amount of throttle. For the swerve you go between two cones, then approx 10m later, there are 4 cones. Imagine the 1s are the cones. 1-----11------1 1-----1 The cones straight on are for the emergency stop, and the ----- line to the right is where you need to swerve into. BTW there is a speed measuring device there so don't ease off the throttle too early.

now onto disklocks
olidavey replied to toon83's topic in Clothing, Luggage, Accessories and Security
So basically... instead of using a disclock you festoon your bike with a disco ropelight? Does it flash? It might as well do something else, for all the use it is as a "security" item Worst is the price -
in theory you are correct but the one i am buying is impossible to cut without an angle grinder. with an angle grinder either me or the dog would hear and the game would be up and i wouldn't like to be in his position if the dog gets there before me Would you seriously intervene if there are 2/3 guys with an angle grinder hammer etc? My bike means a lot to me but at the end of the day its insured. yes why should i loose my no claims bonus just because of some dirty little thief it may be insured but if you don't stand up for what you own then these crooks with keep getting away with it cos wimpy little boys hide in there bedroom while some takes there stuff LOL get killed for the sake of your bike then.

Really annoyed with myself. I was convinced that if all the slow speed manouvers went well - which they did I would pass. I failed on the avoidance, only managed 46kph. Everything else went well. The examiner told me the reason I didn't manage the speed was because I closed the throttle to early, and slipped the clutch a bit too much. Retest booked for monday. Mod 2 on sunday if I pass mod 1.

They can be cut using an angle grinder easily enough. You can't crop any chain which is 16mm or more, so squire, almax and pragmasis will all be fine to stop all but professionals.

torn paper part to my licence
olidavey replied to toon83's topic in CBT, Test and Advanced Training Information
It'll be fine so long as none of the important writing/print is missing or illegible.[/quote it has a line with a few holes on the provisional entitlement and same on office use only and endorsements booked my theory test anyways in york for 2-45 on monday You must replace your driving licence if it has been lost, stolen, defaced or destroyed. -
I live near croydon and wouldn't take the test there. Try tolworth, or even Farnborough?
