  1. I’m looking for my first big bike. is the r6 2005 a good bike (not specifically as a first bike but in general) I want a sports bike, done some research etc, know it won’t be comfy but it’s a weekend toy. I’ve read about gearboxes shitting themselves, more often on the older ones. anyone got advice, history, experience with this model? only a couple owners and got history. cheers
  2. Update: I didn’t end up buying the bike, when I first went in to view bikes i was told it just come in, it’s going to cost £7300. At the test ride they told me £7500 then when come to purchase was told £7700 because they’d compared it to others online so in the end I gave it a miss. still looking for a bike.
  3. Thanks for the reply’s.. fingers crossed its muscles getting used to it then.
  4. I thought that it could be the way I slept but I used to ride my push bike with a seating position that didn’t suit me and after being on that for an hour or 2 would end up with a bad back, once I adjusted the seating and handlebars I no longer suffer after being on the bike. I don’t want to be spending £1000s on a bike on finance and be stuck with it for 3 years and barely riding it. I did enjoy the ride and the bike, just not the bad back.
  5. Morning all, recently passed my full bike test, did my lessons on a CB650R and MT07. Got along with the CB650R so went into Honda and they’ve got a CBR650R, 9 months old, 15 miles and quick shifter for £1k less than a new standard bike so effectively saving £1400 from new. so I test rode the demo CBR650R they’ve got in yesterday for an hour and I could feel the seating position differs slightly to the CB650R assume with it being a sports bike as opposed to a naked/street/urban. Today I’ve woke up (also in the night) with a bad back. Do you reckon this is linked to being a sports bike? If so I’m going to have to look at totally different bikes as I was looking at ZX6, R6 and CBR600RR.. cheers
  6. i intend on short 10/15 minute trips to start with. i won’t be in the rain etc on my own, it’s going to be a nice sunny day thing for me lol Think the handles are a definite go to and too box. A friend told me that he knows someone who rides bikes, his mrs was on the back and would go to sleep, luckily they had a top box and side bags that kept her in place.
  7. Her dad is a biker and races side cars so she’s totally fine with it and yeh we get on fine.
  8. I know she’s gonna cost a fortune in clothing lol, but Aslong as she enjoys and has as much fun as me. I’ve seen them handle things and considered it. What about when you think you have them on, grab round and nothings there and you think you’ve lost them
  9. I’ll have to teach her to lean with me and not try to stay up right, I rode a fair bit illegally when I was younger with both people on the back and solo. it’ll be short trips to and from picking her up from her mums, nothing big at first just to get her used to it as much as me
  10. Evening all, I am currently going through my bike test, have a 125 but obviously need L plates and no pillion passenger but when I pass my 8 year old would like to come on the bike with me. So a few things. who takes their little ones on with them? Any recommendations for decent kids motorbike clothing, and bearing in Mind she is girly so will want pink and purples but I won’t be substituting her safety for her fashion. Found a few decent helmets she likes (proper kids ones) but struggling on the clothes front. Finally any tips for taking your precious little pains in the ass on the bike with you? cheers
  11. Thanks all for the reply. was just concerned as looked like that could leak.
  12. I’ve not yet filled it to see if it leaks, and bought it private. im assuming it should have a seal on these bits
  13. Afternoon, got myself my first bike, a cbf125, I’ve noticed that the petrol cap hasn’t got a rubber seal on it at the point it meets the body, I’ve googled pictures and some have them and some don’t? id of thought it’s needed to stop fuel splashing everywhere but is it a necessity? If so where could I source a seal please. I’ve looked on EBay with no luck, I may just be being stupid but help would be appreciated. thanks
  14. Get a sheet of ply, Make a curcular template to the external measurement of the bricks if the sheets big enough, if not then do 2 half moon templates and then push them together and screw with a brace so basically there’s a hole in the middle. Then mix some mortar up, put a bed down on the existing and lay bricks ontop pushing them back to the template and follow it round. When you go up to the next level just put some bricks, timber or whatever underneath the template to hold it up and repeat. When you lay the next layer of bricks then make it so the joints don’t run in line so they’re staggered, if you can get some mesh, chicken wire, some sort of ties then can push this into the morta before laying the brick just to tie it in a little better but not necessary. best advice I can give for a DIY. Won’t be perfect but may do the trick for you. hope it helps.
