Thanks for the reply Thanks the bike did look good, its now looking a little more sorry for itself but hoping to bring it back up to a good standard. Had a look at Monsterfairings and they look good, given them an email to confirm they can do the colour (they don't have it listed). Seems really odd but all the companies i have looked at don't have the the bench seat style my bike has under their 2002 category but instead for later years, not really sure why . May i ask what colour scheme is your bike and how did it tie up to the fuel tank? my bike has the white strip that goes from the fairing and onto the tank and i'm a little worried it wont line up. Hi everyone, i was hoping someone on the forum would be able to help me out with another problem i am facing... I managed to lowside my bike in the wet on a track day whilst braking , luckily it was at a relatively low speed. Most of the damage is superficial: Front fairing - not to bad and i might be able to just touch up Side fairing Rear fairing Both mirrors Right indicator Brake leaver Exhaust is a little scuffed but i will live with that for now. Im planning on having a good look this weekend and strip off all the broken stuff, want to get the bike back to working order asap for the summer. I don't really want to spend huge amounts on the bike and OEM fairings would cost me £1000 what is just to much TBH... I think as i have destroyed most of the fairing it seems sensible to replace the lot (luckily the tank looks 100%). The main problem i seem to be facing with regards to the fairings is there seems to be very hard to get hold of my colour fairings with the benched seat. The only ones i have found seem to be for different years to my bike, although the same model. Do any of you guys/girls know if honda changed the fairings between 2002 and 2010, will any between these years fit my bike as long as it has the same seat type? I have found the following fairings that match my colour scheme (see attached picture, David silver said it was colour code R127), and i'm leaning towards ABSfairings as i have seen a couple of good reviews. I decided to get them in the end and as no one replied I’m assuming that not many people own them on this forum; because of this and the seeming lack of reviews online after a month or so ill do a review of them in the tried and tested section. First impressions of the suit is very good though, build quality seems good and there is huge amounts of ventilation so should make a good summer suit (my intended use), as previously mentioned I will do a proper write up once I have had some more experience with it.

Oh and forgot to mention that I have tried them on and they fit quite nicely, also do really like the style.

Been looking at getting my first set of leathers (been using textiles) and want something with some good ventilation and ofc protection. Came across these at a infinity store clearance and they are £350 for the set the rrp is supposedly £650 so seems like a good deal, problem is I cant find many reviews of them. They seem unpopular and I’m not sure weather to trust the brand, the other 2 options I have for suits is to either get a good deal of ebay or spend more and get a more popular brand. Dose anyone on this forum have experience with any Joe rocket products, if so would you recommend them? Yeah checked the fuses, was the first thing i did Not sure what the best way is to about checking connections, might see if i can find a way of easily checking the starter switch and kill switch with a multimeter as its hard to do it directly to the switch (will see ware to test the connection from a plug). Well it did start fine, I replaced the solenoid with a 2nd hand one that dident fix the problem. Tonight I went through the starter switch and put some WD40 in there to try and get rid of any rust although it did look pretty clean. Think I have either damaged the kill switch from the WD40 or created a bad connection as now the bike wont start at all! Need to take it apart again and double check I properly connected everything back in… This whole thing is such a pain wish I could just have a normal running bike! Dam Honda reliability… Might get a multimeter and check if it is the switch gear, if it is looks like I could pick up another one reasonably cheaply…

Thanks Hodgy Going to give all the connections a good check over, I think the faulty connection is likely to be between the starter solenoid and the starter switch as the earth must be fine as when I bridge the solenoid it fires up fine? Anyway going to look up at how to clean out the switch first and see how that goes, hopefully its quite simple as the idea of chasing wiring across the whole bike is a little daunting…

Hi guys, I’m back here with another problem... I went through a period of not using the bike due to both weather and being to busy (university workload) and when I went to start the bike the battery was shot (lights would not turn on and when pressing the rear brake the digital display would turn off). The bike needed a new chain so got that and a new battery sorted at the garage. The garage said that while the battery was shot there seems to be starting problems, they cleaned up some connections (supposedly including the starter switch gear) checked the starter solenoid but through it was not that. But basically they couldn’t do any more to it… I looked up the problem and when I jump the starter solenoid the bike starts instantly, what leads me to believe it was the solenoid. I have now bought a replaced the solenoid with a 2nd hand one from the same bike and it will still not start. When I press the starter button the starter solenoid clicks repeatedly (sometimes dose nothing), what leads me to believe its either a lose connection some ware as I know the battery is good. The problem is ware? Do you guys know what I can try to sort it out? I think the problem might be within the circuitry to the starter motor switch but don’t really know how to go by checking it out. Would really appreciate any help and thanks in advance for any replies

Ah that will make the job easier, wasent sure if it was true or not... a lot of rubbish is on the net these days Ouch £50 more than i thought, would you recommend getting a budget one for £30-40? or is it a false economy

Cheers for the replies guys Will hopefully order the parts this weekend and will look into DID X ring gold ones Pointblank i have read that your really not meant to have the bike in gear as it can damage the engine? not sure how accurate this information is though People seem to sugest locking the back wheel with some wood and a towel to stop any scratching and leaving the bike in neutral. Stu or megawatt you know any more info on this?

Hi guys been a while since I have posted… Been very busy and have ended up being a bit of a lurker How hard is it to change the chain and sprockets? Watched a couple of videos and it seems simple enough. Will need to buy a tool to close up the chain but I think everything else I already have. Is there anything I would need to be extra careful or look out for when doing the job? If it’s an easy enough job should I just go for an OEM chain or is there better for the money? Cheers for the replies guys, and the heads up that i might have to splash out on a tyre if im unlucky. I think the tyre i have is a dunlop street smart but will have to double check when i get back home. For now i need to get of this forum and do some more work lol

Ah that dose seem cheep, prob a bit more for a larger tyre but hopefully under £25 for the job I,ve had punctures repaired for £10, and £15........ best advice is to leave the nail in,,,,,,its as good as a temporary plug( for a short while anyway), only go down the road of temporary repairs as a 'get u home' method,,,,,,,,as lots of professional repairers wont repair a temp fix, that is plug or fluid, , a professional repair should include an inside patch ( not just a plug), then the tyre will last until worn down, or punctured again! Ah cheers, i will be doing that then and cheeper than i assumed. I have left the nail in atm but am not going to use the bike (as i dont need to and wont be fun riding it with doubt of the tyre.) will ask my housemate if he can take the wheel down in his car to get it sorted. Dont know what i would do without being a member on this forum , you guys are a grate help Thanks

Oh and whitedevil i think i got it just down my road as people sometimes fly tip crap down there and leave a lot of nails exc... so its something i will try and avoid but its hard as they get spread all the way down to my garage exit, altho i do look out for them and get rid of any i find.

Cheers for the replies guys, i think i will ask around to see how much getting it done at a garage will set me back, then hopefully be able to get it fixed soon (wont be on the bike till then) What will the tyre guys do? just fit a standard plug? Also how much should i expect to pay for it to be done, if i take the back wheel of first?

Been cleaning the bike today and noticed that i have a small nail right in the center of my back tyre... The tyre is barely worn what is really annoying, the area i live in at uni has quite a bit of nails and glass lying about as i have found a couple of nails when walking down the road, there is bits of glass as well what makes small cuts in the tyre so the chances are no matter how careful i am i will prob get another nail at some point. So my question is do i need to get a new tyre? or is there a way i can repair it? maybe by plugging it or using a sealant, and if these methods are good for normal use? (it is not leaking air atm but it might do if i pull it out) Thanks.

Sounds awesome stu, mind you not a bike i will be considering for a long time as by the sounds of it they are much more of a handfull than a fireblade or the alike. Do you do any track days with it and how dose it compair to the fireblades exc? im guessing not quite as fast on a track as the blades have a hp advantage? but when pulling away in general everyday use (not right in the power band) the torque from the vtwin must be so much better. You got any vids of it btw? would be nice to take a look at it

Was having a quick read about the TL1000's and they sound a handfull but fun Do you find you have to battle to keep the front down when giving it some, with all their torque? And have you ever had a go on the newer SV1000's and what do you think of the two bikes? SV more boring or a improvement over the TL?

Wondering what people think? And im not sure weather to trust a expensive helmet in a cheep backpack so wanted to know peoples opinions on it. I don't think I've ever owned a bike that did that, mine have started with the clutch out if the bike is in neutral. ?? Think i read somewhere that some bikes need the clutch in as well to start. I gues you would need to override that before you could use something like this. IMO i would prefer not to leave the bike running even if they couldn't steel it... they might try and drop it.
