  1. Very good advice as nothing worse than coming to do the job and finding you cant get the bolts undone and you then have to spray them up and wait a day or so. Plan in advance to save the pain on the day hopefully.
  2. There was nothing sarcastic in what I typed. Are you maybe confusing sarcasm and irony? Nope, definitely not confused. Give me a brake will you
  3. Got Carbone Lorraine pads on my ZZR1400 and they are good stuff. If the bike is the 1990 CBR600F in your signature and it has rubber lines on then I would suggest you change them as they are probably the originals. Although this in theory would not create a hard feeling in the brakes but would in fact make them spongy as the lines would be expanding under pressure from you pulling the lever. If concerned about the brakes then probably best to renew the fluid as well if you dont know when it was last replaced. The fluid does not cost a lot but the bleeding of the brakes can sometimes be time consuming and a pain in the ass sometimes, so be prepared for that.
  4. Got Sidi's myself and would be hard pushed for me to consider anything else in future as the fit on them around my fat (I like to think muscular) calves is great and I couldnt get any other manufacturers boots to be comfy. Must say though that I would never dream of riding around in trainers. The dangers of coming off a bike and the damage it can do to you is bad enough, so cant understand why anyone who rides would at not at least have a pair of bike boots to give that added protection. Probably get a pair for £20 off ebay if you search around, cheaper than a pair of trainers.
  5. I just bought myself a Shoei XR1100 a month or two ago to replace my AGV and I have to say its fan-fookin-tastic Very comfy, very quiet in comparison to my old lids, and good quality with a good visor change system. Definitely would get my vote.
  6. why not? you could have put someone straight on what to look out for and educated them a little It was more the way it was said, with the sarcasm, that I personally wouldnt have said
  7. Mucho respect to you. Stay safe.
  8. I'm genuinely interested by your comments above, since my experience of warped discs is minimal. So how can you tell they don't look warped from the pictures that were posted, and how would you be able to feel a difference under acceleration? I can understand how it'd feel different under braking, but acceleration just confuses me. The same thoughts were going through my head when reading that but I wasn't going to put it in writing Back to the point. It is just a little light surface rust that has formed while the bike has sat and there has been water between pad and disc. Nothing to worry about. You say the MOT is due in a couple of weeks and you assume they will be checked - they will not check your brake disc thickness on an MOT. That is part of your servicing / maintenance regime for the bike. Don't be fooled in to thinking an MOT covers all safety type things. They have a set list of things to go through and that is all you will get, no more, no less, and not all things you would perhaps think would be on there are actually on there.

  10. Maybe I am wrong with the blackboard thing, but I thought I had heard / seen that come in to force a number of years ago and they were saying it should be called a chalkboard. Probably at a similar time to when they said they were no longer allowing kids to sing "Ba ba black sheep".
  11. I have got a TomTom Rider version 2 and I personally like it. I also have the car mount for it so I can use it in the car for work too. It does have its little niggles but so do the Garmins from what I have seen and heard. Sometimes the sun can reflect off the screen a bit but just a little change of angle of the mount soon sorts this out. It works just the same as your normal car TomTom's so is really easy to use, but the Rider model is just made so that it works when you try press it with gloves on. I never thought I would have a satnav on a bike, but it really is worth it. You can plan your days specific route to take in all the places and spots you want, or you can just go for a ride wherever the mood takes you with it turned off and then just turn it on press home and head back. Then also for any touring or far away meets / rideouts where you dont know where it is they are great. The other great advantage is that if you are riding roads you dont know then a quick glance down on the straights gives you an idea of what the corners coming up are like, tight, easy, opening, tightening etc etc. A great example of this was last weekend when me and my mate went out and I was leading and could anticipate what sorts of corners were coming up and ride at a suitable speed where as my mate was slowing down more as he didnt know what to expect.
  12. Its the call of the bike that you can hear
  13. Well if you are happy with it then congratulations. If not then sorry to hear the news. Got made redundant myself last year and it took me 7 months or so to find a new job and even then it wasnt a particularly good job. But then another few months went bye and then my current job came up and it is the best job I have had. So good things do come out of these things and sometimes it can be that kick / shove that you need to progress with things in life.
  14. I hate all this uber PC crap. At work we have a Young Persons group, a Senior Age Employees group (or something of that ilk), a group for Ethnic Diversity, and a group for gay lesbian bisexual transgenders....... but fook all for your average middle ages white perfectly able hetrosexual male. So therefore surely that makes it that I am being discriminated against. Political correctness gone OTT. What also pishes me off is that we cannot call a blackboard a BLACKboard anymore, but it is perfectly acceptable to have a WHITEboard - WTF? If a black / asian / coloured person says any "white" remark then you have to just suck it up because as soon as you reply with anything you are the racist...... cos they simply could not possibly have been racist towards white people. I have no issue with peoples colour / race, I just have a problem with this uber PC she-ite! And I agree that by being uber PC we create our own racist environment and rules.
  15. I went from having never ridden a bike before to doing my CBT and passing my DAS within 2 weeks. Then got my first bike which was a ZXR750 sports bike, and I am still here to tell the tale, and touch wood have never had an accident. I am now 4 years on from passing my test and am still learning all the time. You never stop learning on a bike. As long as you are sensible about it and fully understand that just because you passed your DAS doesnt instantly make you a riding god, and that the bike WILL hurt you if you dont respect it and the other idiots on the road, then you will be fine. I say go for it
  16. Had a nice 150 mile or so round trip with my mate Simon around the Yorkshire Dales yesterday and just thought I would share a couple of pics with you all. http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj12/jonabonospen/2011-09-10155645.jpg http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj12/jonabonospen/2011-09-10155806.jpg http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj12/jonabonospen/2011-09-10160549.jpg http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj12/jonabonospen/2011-09-10160738.jpg
  17. Ive cleaned and lubed the chain myself, not checked the tension or changed the oil, i think it was done last year, is it worth changing? (along with adjusting the chain tension if needed?) Definately always worth changing when you get a new bike as you don't really know when it was last done and it can save you a fortune in potential repair bills if you just left sh1tty oil in it, and it doesn't cost much to do an oil and filter change.
  18. Do you know when it last had an oil change, chain tension checked, and chain lubed? I always make a point of doing those things to any bike I buy as soon as I can after getting it.
  19. Got a pair of these myself and think they are excellent, especially if you have fairly large calves as the adjustment system is great. Definitely would buy another pair if needed.
  20. Have got any tats as never seen anything that I really really loved, but I got to say that I love that!! Awesome man!!
