  1. Simon , yeah got the little membrane that's in good condition no tears or holes . Ride, yeah ive double checked things like that ....it's usually something like that to catch me out , but all is good Stu, yeah it's the tokico calipers, I keep looking for nissin calipers but can never find any that will fit
  2. Yeah my 1st thought was maybe a 600 MC had been put on by mistake....but measured the piston at 15.8mm which is the right diameter for the 750 , the stroke is really long then it applies pressure right at the last minute.....even with the lever off and me using something else to push it in ....I'm out of ideas now.
  3. Just tried vacuum bleeding ....again and still only gets to a certain point and nothing .....tried reverse bleeding but could not get the fluid in ....fresh out of ideas now .....might just search eBay for a MC
  4. Hi thanks for the reply , yeah it is puzzling indeed , the new MC rebuild kit I put in decided to die ....so that was fun , although I think the seal was a little too large so it must have snagged an tore , new MC kit went I today but still pull the lever back to the bar (easily) .......is there any difference between a 600 and 750 MC ?
  5. 1st pic is where it sits (on number 1) 2nd pic is where pressure really starts to build
  6. Still no joy even with the correct caliper this time ...I've bled the things every way possible, and I can still pull the lever to the bar , it's about half way when the brakes bite ....they pass an MOT brake test but , fail MOT because the lever reserve travel .
  7. Well I figured where the dirty fluid came from ......I put an old caliper on that wasn't given to me by a mate that just had lying around .....feel like a right ass ....bit ah well gonna clear out all the lines and try again with the correct caliper today lol
  8. Yeah last month i replaced all the piston seals and dust seals, gave it a clean .....wasn't super thorough as it was pretty clean in there.
  9. Yeah think I'm definitely gonna swap them out...but ......also want to find out what's going on everything is as it should be , maybe I have dodgy fluid or something because it went bad real fast , just running it through a clean system made it 4 shades darker easily lol
  10. Yeah everything is the correct way , I've tried a vacuum bleeder , I've tried all types of bleeders , it's had 2 litres of fluid through now , tried the "tie the lever to the bar" trick .........I think I'll just swap them out
  11. The actual lever .......no I can't say it has
  12. Thanks for the replies so today was new MC rebuild kit,new caliper seals, new lines, new bolts and washers all round new bleed nipples and 1lt fresh brake fluid ......can still pull the lever to the bar ....there's a little more pressure but that's all , also pushed the pistons back and the fluid that came into the fluid reservoir smelt like absolute ass , .....anyone know a good straight swap caliper ? I've never known anything like these ..... infuriating
  13. Yeah it got me at first , but means the lever can be pulled to the bar , gonna try re bleeding while I wait for parts.... , thanks for the replies ,
  14. Yeah all new fluid in today ......got a MC rebuild kit on order just incase , was really hoping the new lines would solve it as the bike had the original brake hoses on
  15. Hi folks , so I have a 1999 gsxr 750 on mot it had advisory for "insufficient lever travel" on the the front brake ....so rebuilt the calipers, put new braided lines on today .....and still the same ,can pull the lever to the bar , the braking force is fantastic and the lever is firm ....but just not firm enough....any ideas ?
  16. Yeah that's what I thought , but might just strip it all down when I can .....good excuse to buy a 2nd bike
  17. So went out this morning same thing it wouldn't do 1st but went into 2nd even when cold , then selected 1st with no issues even after restarting , took the clutch out made sure the basket didn't have notches ...all good, push rod, bearing, plates, worm drive, adjuster, all good ,reset all the adjusters and set them again all good ....same thing, won't go into 1st until it's gone into 2nd ..also checked the side stand switch that was my 1st go to....all good there , might have to look into selector fork and shaft bearing .......I feel a full strip down and rebuild might be on the cards ........or bike shopping lol
  18. Yeah I'm gonna tear into just to be safe ....it was a whole new clutch pack last year an only put a few hundred miles on it , thanks for the replies
  19. Hi folks, I have a 99 gsxr 750 always clunked and jumped when put into 1st , recently it's jumped and stalled every time I put it in 1st , so I thought I'd try 2nd today an it popped in (usual clunk and twitch) now goes in 1st no problem, pulls as she should, gear change are good , no slipping ......I'm just puzzled has anyone else had anything like this ?

Turns out my meter cables were broke . As I tested the wires to the coil for a circuit it was reading about 7 volts each cable waiting for new coil to arrive
