  1. Hi everyone, Having just purchased a Horwin EK1 electric scooter in New Zealand, I come to the forum encouraged by seeing a post on the same machine from a member in France. It seems that this scooter is very new to the NZ market and coupled with the usual inadequacies of an owner's manual perhaps translated from another language, I find that the firm I bought the scooter from seems to have minimal knowledge or understanding of the machine they just sold me. I am hoping that I may be able to get some practical advice and assistance from other members who own a Horwin EK1. My immediate priorities are as below: 1. Does anyone know how to source a PDF copy of the proper workshop manual for this scooter? I have been used to working independently on my previous Vmoto electric scooter for over 12 years, using such a manual obtained from China. However, local attempts to obtain a service manual for the Horwin EK1 have been unsuccessful and a direct approach via the Horwin website received no response. 2. Is it possible to disable the maddening chirping noise that the indicators make? 3. The scooter has illuminated "running strips" on the front, with similar-appearing strips on each side, which in my scooter do not light up. Posts on this scooter on YouTube seem to imply that the side strips should be illuminated. Does anyone know how this is done? I would greatly appreciate any general and specific advice or suggestions. Best wishes, Peter
  2. Hello everyone, I have just joined the forum from New Zealand. I'm 75 and a short time ago, in my youth, rode a Suzuki T20 for many years. Our family has joined the electric car "revolution" and I started this by purchasing a Vmoto electric scooter over 12 years ago. This scooter has been great value, although perhaps requiring (sealed lead acid) battery changes more frequently than ideal, due to my penchant for using the machine in the "max" setting too much! My 20 year old son has recently "commandeered" the Vmoto for transport to university, but I found that I missed having the extra modality of a scooter so much that I have just purchased a Horwin EK1 electric scooter. I believe that this scooter is quite new to New Zealand and coupled with the usual inadequacies of an owner's manual perhaps translated from another language, the firm I bought the scooter from seems to have minimal knowledge or understanding of the machine they sold me! As a very much hands-on, do-it-yourself type of person, I am joining this forum in the hope that I may be able to get advice and guidance from other members which will allow me to work on the scooter myself when necessary. Best wishes, Peter
