  1. Made a start with the local ones... 2. True. You would not be insured to ride your own bike without passing your test, anyway how would you get it there, what would you do with it each day after training? Use the school bike, you really have no choice.
  3. Doing a CBT, buying a 125, doing DAS, selling a 125, buying a bigger bike...... Sounds like a lot of work and lost pennies to me! You really should consider just doing your DAS and be done with it. It will save you time, money and grief. If you do the CBT there is no choice but to do it on the training school bike. You would not be insured to ride your own bike without the completed CBT certificate you get at the end of the day.
  4. OK so another shake up of the current test format is on its way, no definite time frame yet but the DSA are saying by 2013... The long term aim is to provide a single event test that takes place on the road. The aim is to have module 1 and 2 taken at the same time. Having the test take place entirely on road rules out the need for MPTCs making the test more accessible for riders and reducing distances travelled. Hang on, having a bit of deja vu here!
  5. Can you clarify something - you say couldn't get into gear at lights? Are you saying you were in neutral waiting for the lights to change? Because if you were then you have been taught incorrectly...

  7. If it is cartilage damage, especially under the kneecap, then be careful using any type of compression as you will push the cap onto the joint and could make the issue worse. Not to sound pesimistic, but knackered cartilage under my kneecap resulted in selling a Ninja because it was just too painful to ride.
  8. I think there are two routes - the non-motorway one goes down the A5 and takes a bit longer. Matt.
  9. I'm sure a lot of people will not agree with this, but sometimes it's better just to get through the CBT on a ped instead. Each time you try, and fail, you knock your confidence and wind yourself up a bit more. Plus there is the question of an extra £100 or whatever you are paying. Balancing the throttle, clutch and rear brake is not easy and some people just never get it. If you try it on a ped you will probably sail through it and end up with your CBT, and it does not restrict you to riding bikes without gears. The choice is yours at the end of the day. All I can say is think about your own safety - if you have a moment, dump the clutch, drop the bike in the training area OK, but what if you do that out on the road? Talk to your instructor, take the advice he gives you. Matt.
