  1. Looks like it could be the right one. Thanks for the advice everyone.
  2. Thanks for this. Where did you get this code from?
  3. Hi all. I’ve got a 1983 CG125 that I’m fixing up. I’d like to respray the side panels to match my tank but I can’t work out what colour it is. I’ve looked all over the bike but can’t find any codes. Can anyone help?
  4. I like the idea of using markers. Keep it analog. I guess I was hoping there was an adjustment screw or something. Thanks for the replies.
  5. Hi all. I have a 1983 CG125 that I’m giving the cafe racer treatment. I’ve fitted some much bigger tyres which look great (in my opinion) but have made the speedo show slower speeds than I’m actually going. Is there any way of adjusting this please? It’s a mechanical speedo that runs off a cable attached to the front wheel. Cheers.
  6. Thanks for that. I’ll take a look next time I need to order something. Cheers.
  7. To be honest I’m not sure if it’s the original throttle body. Probably not, the bike is 40 years old. I managed to fix it in the end though. I took some bits off the old throttle cable and made an extra little adjuster, slipped it on and that did the trick.
  8. Thanks for the advice but I’ve already done all that and still loads of slack.
  9. Hi all. I’m fixing up a 1983 cg125. This is my first bike so I have zero experience but should there be slack in the throttle. I have to turn it about a sixth of a run before the bike will rev. I’ve adjusted the cable everywhere I can and even fitted a new cable but I’m still getting the same slack. Should that happen? I expected the bike to rev even with the slightest twist of the throttle. Thanks.
  10. Thanks Hawkeye. I thought that would be the case. I don’t have much experience of riding motorbikes but I’ll have a play around and see what feels right. Cheers.
  11. Hi everyone. I’m turning a 1983 cg125 into a cafe racer and I’m after some advice regarding tyre pressures. I’ve fitted retro style 4.00” tyres that are much bigger than the standard ones that were on there when I bought it. Standard air pressure should be 25psi on the front and 28psi on the back. Should I stick with that pressure or have more or less in there with the bigger tyres. Thanks.

    New to Old Bikes

Hi, This is my first post so please be gentle. I've recently bought my first motorbike and I'm booked to take my CBT (for the first time) at forty five years old. The bike I have bought is nearly as old as me, a 1983 CG125. My question (probably the first of many) is will it run well on regular unleaded petrol or do I need to search out something more suitable or add an additive or something? Thanks in advance.
