Guest Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 ok Just bought a Suzuki GSX750W (1998) and was running absolutely great, then one of my mates moved a knob thats located just under the carb. Now my bike keeps cutting out. I guess that it's for air intake or petrol flow but I tried moving it back yet I cant get it to run smoothly again, any ideas????? Quote
scrowe Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 sounds like he's fiddled with the idle speed.the little knob restricts or increases fuel flow to the carbs.turn it one way the engine will run faster at idle or the other way will slow it down.turn it anticlockwise while the bike is running and it should speed up. you want it to settle at about 750-900rpm at idle. Guest Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 Dedbeat, welcome to the fold, I own one of these babys too, have done for a while, hes adjusted the tickover, so wind the knob in a little and start the bike then adjust accordingly..linky to my haynes manual herehttp://www.themotorbikeforum.co.uk/view ... 27&t=21817pop into Newbies and introduce yourself, gives everyone a chance to say hello, this is my bike... http://www.themotorbikeforum.co.uk/view ... 86&start=0 Quote
Guest Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 thanks....got that bit sorted but why does it keep cutting out? im riding along and seems to lose power then cut out, never done it before, and is a pain in the ass lol Quote
skatefreak Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 Sounds like mixture if its cutting out whilst throttle is applied...Maybe he's narked the air mixture screw If it was the idle screw that would just ajust the speed of tickover and shouldnt effect the engine when any throttle is applied...-Jvr Quote
Guest Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 thanks, i thought it might be ice in the carb cos its damn cold today, but surely that would go after running the bike for an hour....its sounding expensive i think Quote
Guest Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 thanks, i thought it might be ice in the carb cos its damn cold today, but surely that would go after running the bike for an hour....its sounding expensive i think have a look and see that all the pre-heater wires are attached, and if anything looks odd. if a mate has mucked about it will be an easy fix, just figuring out what he's done.
