Honda wiring

Hi All.

I have bought a veypor for my bike, *url removed by admin* purely because by bike (09 varader 125) has no fuel gauge, and I like to know how much fuel I have left . It also does a load of other cool things like 0-60 timings, engine power calcs etc.

Anybody know

a) what colour the tach signal wire is on a honda xl125v and where it is

fill it full reset the trip, ride it till it runs out, make a mental note, and then reset the trip at each fill up. simples.

or if your like me nd have a broken trip switch, just remember the miles on the clock when you last fill up! add X amount of miles and you know when to fill up!

yyeah but im also a stickler for numbers. I love to know all the different numbers etc. Makes me happy i no about the trip meter method. Im uisng it currently anybody have any idea about the wiring though?

if theres no fuel guage on the bike then theres no sender, so no signal to tell you fuel level.

haynes manual will give you a wiring diag.

independent reviews have it down to 2% accurate.

I have both fuel guage and a trip on the VFR. on previous bikes just the trip. i allways reset trip regardless. The minute it gets to 170 miles i look for a fill up that way i know i have about 25-30 miles left.

you don't need a fuel guage if you do that. most fuel guages arn't 100% accurate any way.

When i fill up and ride 85 miles my guage still reads full! then it'll drop like a stone! use it as an indicator, nothing more.

the only real method is the trip and to "look in the hole" on the tank if you can! if you see the petty you're ok!

Its a bit OTT for a 125 though, i could understand you being into the figures for Track or Drag racing,. but you can still work out MPG or MP£ using the trip and the petrol receipt. and its doubtful you would see a return on the Veypor when it came to sell, probably more likely a loss on the bike as its not stock... (mileage accuracy etc..)

It is overkill but I like all the different numbers. + when I come to sell the bike I can just remove it...

Idiot light kicks in when 2.7 litres are still in the tank. Can't you use that.

as for engine power displays it might flash up "no very much"

I've got a link for the service manual on the works computer somewhere. I'll have a look and see if I can find it when I'm back in the office.

Yeah I will but its mostly for the other numbers.

heh yeah I thought thats about it would show up, I wonder If I can get the 0-60 time under 20 seconds

sporry to be blunt but If you've got money to burn then fine!

it's a total waste of time and effort on a 4stroke 125 that you can't tune or up performance buy ant real amount. basic maths will do just fine like the rest of us do on pretty much every factory machine on the plannet!

if it were a gsxr1000 or an blade then yeah spend the money, get it mapped, bore it out or bolt on nitrous then the unit could be usefull.

your better off spending the money on new helmet or traing to get ur das.
