Guest Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 Hi all,I really dislike the sidestand fitted to the TRX 850. You can't have the bike running with the sidestand down. I find this really annoying because like most people (i would have thought), you start your bike on the stand, letting it warm up, while getting helmet and gloves on etc etc. There are wires going to the stand, so my question is.... does anyone know if it's a plug that can be removed, or if I just cut the wires and blank them off, will this be ok ?Cheers,AJ Quote
Guest Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 the sidestand should only cut the engine if it is gear, sfety issue, could be you need to clean the switch, Quote

Stu Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 as above could be a stuck gear position sensor if it has one! Also check the clutch switch too Quote
Guest Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 Ok thanks guys. The MOT centre and tyre fitting centre both thought it was wrong that it wouldn't allow the engine to start if the clutch was pulled in and it was not in gear too. Will have a look at cleaning the switch then.Cheers, AJ. Quote

Will have a look at cleaning the switch then.Cheers, AJ. my trx has the same problem. apparently some ducatis are the same. it doesn't need the clutch pulled in, just that it's in neutral and that the sidestand is up. Anyone know how to configure the sidestand switch so that it only cuts the engine out if put into first with sidestand down? Quote
Guest Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 now have been told to check the earthing for the neutral light. poor connection is not allowing enough power through. quite confused but any form of taking my bike apart and cleaning is good Quote
Danny-B- Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 If i was you i'd short the switch so it thinks the sidestand is up all the time ... How many wires go to the switch ? is there a light on the dash to warn that the sidestand is down? Quote
Guest Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 Fair point cheers I took apart the sidestand switch and it's a really simple switch which works. I think it's more about a bad connection not letting more power through- just enough to light up the neutral light. no sidestand light on the dash, just indis, neutral and oil I think. def no sidestand. My next step is to find the earthing for the negative on the neutral light. I HATE ELECTRICS!! Quote
