houdini Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 Anyone had any kappa luggage, just looked on ebay and they do a v35 side case equivilant, saying theyll fit the v35 side racks, is it best going with givi? Are these just cheap givi lookalikes?? http://www.ojmoto.it/givi-732fz-aprilia-mana-0809-p-5686.htmlhttp://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230375434260&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_1472wt_893 Quote
Guest Mr Miller Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 Do you wanna be a Kappa Slapper or a Givi Divvy? S'up to you! ...and you're welcome! I'm glad my extensive knowledge has helped a fellow biker! Quote
jman1978 Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 I was told by the dealer i got mine from that they come out of the same factory, which was why i had to wait ages for either last year as the shut over the summer Quote
marksmith Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 (edited) I was told the Kappa stuff was just as good as the Givi. Admittedly by a dealer who sold Kappa. It was a few years ago, but this probably still holds...Both Kappa and Givi make two ranges: Monolock and Monokey. Monolock is better than Monokey, as I recall. Kappa Monolock and Givi Monolock are compatible. Kappa Monokey and Givi Monokey are compatible. Monolock and Monokey are NOT compatible. (All this wasn't obvious to me from reading about it - took a while to piece together the information. I got quite irate with a salesman that it was all so unclear, so perhaps they've improved the literature now ) Monolock boxes are double-skinned, generally better built. Monokey are a bit cheaper, single-skinned.I have a Kappa Monokey (the cheaper one) and it's not great. The catch mechanism exploded - it's fine all the while it's left on the bike, but falls apart if I take it off. Girlfriend's new bike has a Givi Monolock but not had it long enough to compare. Hoover Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 Givi is owned by the son of the founder and Kappa is owned by the daughter, I have used Kappa monolock for the last 3 years and not had any problems. Quote
