hey,

I have a Triumph TT600 2002 motorbike. when i was on my bike on a motorway my bike started to make a deeper (kinda throaty) noise. i slowed down and when the revs went below 5k the noise stopped. when i went over 5k it started again. the noise only happens when i'm accelerating aswell btw. when i got to my destination about 5 min later i noticed an oil leak. i had a quick look b4 i got on my bike to go home and it seemed ok to ride. the oil was only leaking when the bike was running and even then it was very minor. the next day i stripped my bike down to fix the leak, removed the farings and fuel tank. there was a small hose that was not connected so i put it bk on to where i think it came from. put it bk together checked the oil and all seemed good. when i rode it next it was still making the noise but the leak seemed to be fixed. i've only used my bike when i have had to and now its leaking oil again. one thing i noticed was that the rubber strap that holds the air filter down seems a little perrished so i will replace that. also i was thinking if that is the problem then maybe i should also replace the rubber seals and springs that seal the cylinders.

my thought is that the noise is caused but the cylinders not being sealed propperly (maybe also the oil problem aswell)

anyone got any thoughts?

i will get pics tomorro and add them here to explain abit easier

did you top up the oil for what was lost, could be valve noise with low oil..

also one last thing, the last time i used my bike i started it after a fag break and lots of smoke came out of the exhaust. i could then see a little bit of smoke in my mirrors when ever i accelerated. since then i have not used it as i dont want to make the problem any worse.

sounds like oils getting past the valves.....

if the rubber strap is not holding the airfilter/valve seals propperly then would oil etc get in there? if thats the case then i can fix it for about £65. will get some pics asap
