chris128 Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 Went and did the CSS course at Brands Hatch today with Netmeister (good to meet you and thanks for helping me out) and the day was going quite well up until the point where I rode straight into the gravel at paddock hill bend at about 70 mph... Unfortunately havent got any pictures of the actual crash but here's some of the aftermath:http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q160/chriswright128/Bike3.jpghttp://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q160/chriswright128/Bike1.jpghttp://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q160/chriswright128/Bike2.jpgI didnt come off to badly I guess - bit bruised on my side, couple of small cuts on my head, and swallowed a few bits of gravel. Shame I cant do the track day at Cadwell tomorrow that I had booked though Quote
TC Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 Thats not to bad considering Amagine 70 mph on a public road Glad your in in one piece Chris. Quote
techno Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 Thats not to bad considering Amagine 70 mph on a public road Glad your in in one piece Chris. yeah amagine that...and am assuming imagining coming off cos some of us have done 70 on the road Quote
Guest philgale Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 welcome to the club chris, it was bound to happen eventually. whats up with the bike, just plastic damage? Quote
Netmeister Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 Did you get home ok Chris? The bike wasn't to bad from what we could tell, just fairing damage. In a way its good it went down in the gravel as its......softer?Great to meet you buddy, had a really good day, bar your mishap. Quote
Revvin Kevin Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 Bad luck, law of averages means it happens to everybody eventually At least it wasn't your road bike and you walked away Quote
chris128 Posted May 11, 2010 Author Posted May 11, 2010 Yeah I think I did get away with not too much damage to either myself or the bike - bit bruised and achy this morning but I'm sure I'll be fine in a couple of days. The bike looks like it just needs the front and rear fairing replacing but I havent had chance to have a good look yet to see if there is any other more serious damage. I got a few spare bits of fairing with the bike when I bought it so going to go have a look and see if I've got the right bits (but knowing my luck I wont have) and yeah I kept thinking I'm glad it wasnt on a public road as it would have been a lot more painful! Guest philgale Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 How did all your kit come off, helmet take a knockyou will have it up and running in no time mate...any video footage Quote
chris128 Posted May 11, 2010 Author Posted May 11, 2010 No I was gutted I didnt take the GoPro cos I thought nothing interesting would happen! Wish I had got it on film... but oh well.Oh and yeah I think I need a new helmet, my leathers need a clean now but they dont seem to be damaged. Just tried starting the bike and all started ok but the starter button stays pressed even when you let go now, which is annoying as I just had it replaced to fix that exact same problem! Louth Bikes say they have got some full fairings in stock for my bike for a couple of hundred quid so will have to see if I can afford that next month. Not sure if I'm going to be able to do any track days before the TMBF one in July now though with the extra expense of repairing the bike and getting a new lid. Quote
bigsisterbiker Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 glad you came out of it ok and you can get your bike right not that i needed to look at this thread - i'm bricking it already at doing my first track day in june Quote
Netmeister Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 not that i needed to look at this thread - i'm bricking it already at doing my first track day in june Guarantee you'll be on one of the Cadwell days come July? The trackday bug always bites Quote
bigsisterbiker Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 haha? not flippin funny managed to find a track fairing on ebay so not as worried as i was - still had to pick the narrowest track in the world didn't i cadwell had to be closest didn't it......booked in june through jordans bike shop in leeds, due back at work early july so don't think i'll get another in. hope i've still got a non-bent bike for if i do get the chance Quote
T180985 Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 saw the bike on the day mate, looked pretty nasty but mostly plastics damage? glad you were able to walk away ok though! Quote
Guest Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 Was this your first venture away from Cadwell? Clearly you should stick to doing trackdays at Cadwell Chris Doesn't look to bad from the pics, but it's an unwanted expense and a pain in the arse isn't it. At least you now know you can crash and walk away from it, it gets easier each time I think. Stick a load of gaffer tape on it and get back out there tomorrow Or just whip the fairing off and ride without like I did at Oultonhttp://i753.photobucket.com/albums/xx171/Copo67/DSC_0516.jpg Quote
chris128 Posted May 16, 2010 Author Posted May 16, 2010 haha thats quality Copo, unfortunately pretty much every panel of my fairing is knackered though think I'll have to get some new fairings on it once I've been paid at the end of June, as I'm not going to be able to afford much until then what with buying a new car last week. This seems like as good an excuse as any for some picture whoring of the new car http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q160/chriswright128/IMAG0276.jpghttp://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q160/chriswright128/Ibiza1.jpghttp://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q160/chriswright128/Ibiza4.jpg Quote
