Guest Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 hi will give you the full story bought bike of mate hadnt run in 4 yearscomplete drain and complete servicecarb overhaulnow have spark when tested and petrol in carbs (undid drain screw)but still wont start just get a couple of seconds of trying then just turns over.any ideas welcome thanks Quote
Guest Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 Did you find where the vacuum pipe went to and connected it? It wont start without that connected...You could suck on the pipe whilst its attached to the tank to create a vacuum to see if that is the problem? Quote
Guest nigelf Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 take plugs out put a couple of drops of petrol in each barrel, plugs back in and connected try and start....when you say you overhauled the carbs did you was the bodies in petrol or a better chemical as petrol will gum up after a few years and is a tw@t to clear in all the jet ways etc...Nigel Quote
Roadtorque Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 Agree with nigelf, After you try to start are the plugs wet or dry? if dry go for the carbs, green fuel dries up & blocks jets with a residue like green glass & just as hard, Quote
Guest Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 NC30 I know about NC24 not so sure, as Vicki has so rightly mentioned, there is a vacum pipe that connects to the diaphragm on the fuel tap, you can remove the diaphragm and seal it, some sort of instant gasket should work, but it is a tube about 4 mm thick that runs from the fuel tap to the airbox, if it is turning over and running for a minute then this most likely the case. rennie Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 gone off fuel is my bet, i had it on an old kwacker, really difficult to get rid of. Quote
Guest Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 Yep did you drain the tank and put fresh fuel in her, plus with standing might need the carbs deglazing. mine did the same, had probs with starting after the winter, shop deglazed the carbs and has ran fine since. might not be that prob but something else to look at.
