fazerboy Posted May 31, 2010 Posted May 31, 2010 Its was FANTASTIC!!!!!!brilliant roads, great views, good driving standards, just brilliant..... spread over 13 days and 2250 miles, with a 4 day break inbetween,i was nearly wiped out by...a 7ft buzzard/deer/2 dogs/herd of cows/4 mules/1 cat and a flock of swallows over the trip...we did major mways to small single rural roads where very little had passed, but highlight was the col du tourmolet where the tour de france goes, where upon reaching the top,we were told it was closed to motorized traffic ,and only pushbikes and walkers were allowed to travel, but with a 190km round trip to do because of it we decided to go down the 5500ft road which was strewn with rocks and debris from a bad winter ,30 mins later and we reached the bottom with obvious bemusement of road workers at the base, who just raised there eyebrows and clapped theres too many good roads, too many good times and i cant wait to go back..heres some pics http://i976.photobucket.com/albums/ae247/fazerboy1969/spain%202010/2010spainholiday146.jpghttp://i976.photobucket.com/albums/ae247/fazerboy1969/spain%202010/2010spainholiday132.jpghttp://i976.photobucket.com/albums/ae247/fazerboy1969/spain%202010/2010spainholiday109.jpghttp://i976.photobucket.com/albums/ae247/fazerboy1969/spain%202010/2010spainholiday044.jpghttp://i976.photobucket.com/albums/ae247/fazerboy1969/spain%202010/2010spainholiday023.jpg Quote

fazerboy Posted May 31, 2010 Author Posted May 31, 2010 the whole trip cost me around £1200 for the 2 weeks inc food drinks hotels ferrys and fuel...very expensive and you could do it easily for around £900,but its soooo worth it,thats twice ive done it since 2008,and i would happily travel around spain and no where else for the rest of my life if you do need any tips, dont hesitate to invite me Quote
Guest Posted May 31, 2010 Posted May 31, 2010 ,but highlight was the col du tourmolet where the tour de france goes, I did that one back in '89 and agree it's something special! fabulous tarmac and curves on the way up and cobbles and crap on the way down If I remember correctly theres a stunning bit near the top where the road is cut into the rock at a strange angle. I tried to stop and take a picture but shutting the throttle when you're having so much fun is immposible Quote
Guest Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 Sounds great - nice to see the Bandit (although only a little glimpse) in another country! She's been around a fair bit now Glad you had a good time... more pics! Quote
fazerboy Posted June 1, 2010 Author Posted June 1, 2010 Yeah the bandit held up well and never had a blip once from it other than a flat rear tyre in the middle of nowhere in the pyrenness but punture seal helped and a french garage plugged it for me too for 8 euros, then it held up for another 600 miles Quote
archiec Posted June 12, 2010 Posted June 12, 2010 Great pics just a bit worrying how you look so natural behind that deer LOL Quote
Guest Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 Your so lucky, would love to do Europe! Amazing!Nice pics! Quote
Jimmi_929RR Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 Great pics, that road in the 2nd one looks fantastic fun! Quote
fazerboy Posted June 17, 2010 Author Posted June 17, 2010 that second pic was the col d'aspin...on the way to the col d'tourmalet...elevation at that point was a paultry 1450 mtrs...we did get to over 2200 mtrs at one point it took us 45 minuets to get to that point where i took the picture...we covered approx 10 miles it was that bendy and with quite a few pro cycling teams coming down the hill like silent assassins with their 4 wheeled drive volvo estates trying to keep up with them, our ride up was quite epic Quote
MrZombieJesus Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 the pictures are amazing, how much was the ferry and fuel? i would loooove to do that when i am a bit older Quote
