Reading peoples track day experiences I have an urge to do a track day I ask as a newbie - (I passed my test in Feb10 and have only done just over a 1000 miles since passing).

So I'm after the the opinion' of the experienced amoungst you; are track days better left till you have more miles under wheels or should you just go for it??

I passed my test in April 09 and did my first TD in the following July and I got on fine. Well when I say fine...I mean I crashed...but I went out there with something to prove and come unstuck. Go out there with a sensible head on and I promise you you'll be fine.

No track day is a race. You turn up, they let you out, and you can bimble around at what ever speed you want (within reason)

Moved to track day section for you....

road miles/experience means nothing on track, i thought i was a pretty quick road rider and on my second track day moved to inters and was blown away left right and centre....

just get out there ASAP, obviously book in novice just go out chill and have a laugh. there is a TD thread for newbies here, pretty much covers everything.

but yeah get out there and do it....have a look at the forum cadwell TD and get yourself booked on that one

Smiles - I am like you. Got the licence in Nov. 09, rode 2,000m and want to give it a shot.

Foz - Same here, I want to try with my bike first and then if I liked it, do it properly on a track one.

Hottrax are running novice day for road bikes only at Silverstone. They have 3 levels, 1st timer, 2nd timer and 3rd timer :)

i did my first at cadwell park in late march early april this year and i had only done about 1800 road miles, as phil said its nothing like riding on the road. and i went out with the attitude of its not a race and to build my speed slowly and sure enough with lap after lap i got my gears correct for each corner for what i felt comfortable and just kept getting on the brakes slightly later and getting on the throttle slightly earlier and leaning the bike abit more everytime.. i will warn anyone thinking of doing a track day that its very addictive and you will just want to do it all the time. which is a good thing and a bad thing
