Probably a stupid question but Im gonna ask anyhoo

I have been cleaning my bike and noticed the can is loose

So I checked it out and the bracket holding it in place needs tightening, no biggy there.

I also noticed that the joint to the `downpipes is loose so I decided to check further

can removed and there is not sign of any sealing paste.

Is the paste required or should it be just a push fit with no need for sealing?

Cheers

130 mile trip Roy

I just wondered if I should smear some paste in the joint to seal it. It's the extension pipe where it meets the downpipes

Probably loose due to me dropping it

Lol Dan

Its fooking noisy anyway so im not altogether sure if it ios blowing

There does seem to be some soot like dust in the sleeve

So probably best if I use some paste, but from experience I know this will make removal a lot harder.

doesn't need loads..

To check, run bike and either hold hand around seal to feel if it is blowing, or get a smoker to blow smoke around it...

I shoulda know that Dan

Thanks

Blowing a little................not much though

So a smear of paste it is

Just wasnt sure whether to use any or not

Never had to use it on the GSX, but that has a standard exhaust system and humungous gaskets

If it was the car it would have gotten loads

Thanks :thumb:

Both my cans slip on and off and there is no seal, just a slot for the can to slip into. There is also a spring that connects the can to the main pipe to get a tight fit and it doesn't blow so no paste required.

However, as peeps have said, if she blows then paste is required ;)
