Hello everybody,

I have never ridden a bike, but it is something I have really wanted to do for a while. The problem is that where I live, Lebanon, they do not give professional motorcycle lessons and they are a bit too lenient when awarding licenses. And I am not willing to take the road unless I have been properly trained.

I am willing to come to the UK for as long as it takes (1 or 2 weeks) to learn the basics in a professional school, but the problem is that all the websites I have visited mention that it is necessary to have a provisional UK driving license to be able to take the CBT.

Since I want to drive in Lebanon, it is not necessary for me to get a UK motorcycle driving license as long as I am properly trained. Does anyone know about a good motorcycle school that just gives training (CBT for example) to anyone without prior requirements and without necessarily awarding a license?

Please let me know

Thanks!

To do a CBT or any training you WILL need a provisional license. And to get that license I think you just need an UK address. You will have to send your passport with £50 fee and you will get your provisional license.

I doubt any school can train non-residents, not mentioning taking them to public roads.

I think if you don't have a uk address it will be a problem for you to get a provisional licence.

So it will also be a problem for you to do any 'on the road training' and I suspect you would only be able to have off the road training.

Might be best if you invite an instructor out for a free paid for holiday .......and rent a couple of bikes

Question then is; Would he be able to legally ride in your country?

Get your licence done where you live and then as it seem you have the money get some professional track days or something. If you think that you can get proper training in UK then you are mistaken. It's true that you must ride up to certain standard to pass MOD1 and MOD2 but this doesn't mean that you will be safe on the roads. Only riding your bike for 1000s miles will give you the experience, nothing that a normal school can teach you.

Some schools are also bad, for example the school I trained with was really bad, I felt robbed at the end.

If you drive a car then you have enough experience to be on the roads, just buy proper gear and take it slowly, most accidents happen when people get sport bikes and ride them too fast.
