bucket of water with some car shampoo in, sponge all over and then usually rinse with clean water if hose is out use it to rinse. don't do it as often as i should, sometimes if front is totally splattered with flies i put an old tea towel over it and then pour hot water on and leave to soak, they come off easily then.........

do you use any cleaner or soap etc ?

1) Up on rear paddock stand, parafin and a toothbrush to get the gunk off the chain and sprocket (5 mins)

2) pressure-wash on low-power mist all over chain and sprocket (5 mins).

3) pressure-wash on med-power jet all over the rest and once-over with an old towel (5 mins).

4) Leave to dry somewhere sunny (1 hour + cup of tea).

5) spray up chain with wuerth high-performance dry chain lube (1 min). (I won't use anything else - it sticks like glue, doesn't attract much dirt because it has virtually no stickiness when dry and my chain is now 10K miles old and shows no signs of wearing out yet!)

6) Take down off paddock stand. Leave for 15 min for lube to dry.

total time of actual work = approx 15 mins.

Simples :)

whats best spray on wax or the stuff you pour out a bottle onto a cloth ?

My basic clean goes like;

1. Rinse off loose dirt/dead flies with luke warm water using buckets and or watering can.

2 old rag or cheap cloth wipe down the grease with paraffin.

3. Meguires shampoo in a bucket (non scratch sponge or other) warm to hot water, wash downwards starting at the mirrors - the nice parts.

4. Use separate sponge for wheels and underside - really dirty bits

5. rinse off - warm water using watering can or other.

6. Dry with non scratch cloths

7. Let it stand and drip dry

8 spray with the aircraft protection stuff and massage it in.

Every month i do the chain, degrease and lube. I also wax it with some expensive stuff, as i like it to shine.

Spray on wax can get it into places you don't want it to go, best option is cream into a cloth wipe on, let it haze then wipe off.

If you want to go the full 110% then go buy some back to black for the trims :) - looks mint afterwards..

Don't use a chamois leather, they are old school and leave residue/marks etc - use some microfibre's to dry it off - you can get super large ones from Ebay for next to nothing.

Best way to wax is on the large panels, fold the cloth and make a flat area, wipe on let it haze. For tight spots use your finger wrapped in the microfibre obviously :) -

Don't wax anywhere near the tyres

Depending on what quality the wax is - it might not be suitable for trim, read the instructions..

Ok well thast saved money then.

just looked on ebay i can get 3 microfibre cloths for 3 quid

What happens when 77GT needs to do a carb balance or a brake calliper re-build? The forum's gonna crash!!

I thought that but decided not to mention it..dont wana give him any ideas

Other - usually I leave mine out in the rain :)

Although it does need a propper wash soon. It has had some bumper care on the lights etc just cuz i had some which i used on some plastics on the bike (its a scoot and i used it on the black plastic which had greyed with age. It works great!), and when i saw it repelled water i decided to put some on my lights cuz i thought in theory it is better if my lights dont have water on them because it obstructs the light. In reality ofcoarse light just shines straight through water, but i had loads of this stuff left and thought what the hell.

Also put a bit of WD40 on the wheels because they get dirty the easiest and i have read that muck doesnt stick on as much if it has WD40. (btw i only got it on wheels and not tyres or breaks)
