skarcrow Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 (edited) Hi all,it's proabably been asked before but I can't find it I have a YBR 125 that I use mainly to commute to and from work approx 12 Miles. I always have lunch, bike lock, phone etc.. that I carry at the moment in a smallish rucksack. I was thinking of fitting a small top box and was wondering if and how it affects ridingthanks Edited September 29, 2010 by skarcrow Quote
argentum40 Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 i used to have boxes on my bikes many moons ago and as long as you dont put loads of weight in em i never noticed any diference at all..only thing i can think of is they produce more drag and be suceptable to side winds more... Quote
Juggler Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 I've never ridden with a top box but the physics suggests that the high centre of gravity, coupled with the drag, would effect handling. On the other hand, a lot of bikes are designed with a pillion rider in mind, so you're certainly not going outside the safety margin. Heavy stuff to the bottom of the box. Quote
Ian G Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 I have a 45litre top box it reduces your mpg very slightly heavy side winds do affect you a little but not enough to worry about and i have no problems when filtering through london traffic with it Quote
Guest Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 if you get one, make sure your mirrors are repositioned when using it, or all you will see is the box.. heres mine... http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg250/simonevans73/TOPBOX2.jpghttp://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg250/simonevans73/Scotland%20Trip/PIC01211.jpg Quote
