GazzyG Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 Weather was fantastic today, so after having sunday dinner with the in-laws, the mrs and I went out into the garden to have another crack at sorting out the Ninja.Grr!! So annoyed it's untrue. The rubbers from the airbox to the back of the carbs have been warped out of shape and slipped off the backs of the carbs. Been trying for ages to warm them up and force them back on but it's an absolute nightmare.Honestly not knowing what to do that we're not doing already.Tempted to bodge the bike together, ride it down to the garage and chuck money at them, though absolutely appalled at the idea of doing that when I can bloody well see what needs doing, but the bloody seals just won't stretch on!Grr!!Rant over. Stu Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 can you get them off? Try leaving them in boiling water it also could be that you need new rubbers as they can go hard and not flex as good as there supposed to Quote
GazzyG Posted October 17, 2010 Author Posted October 17, 2010 Aye, been searching for new rubbers on fleabay. These ones do seem to have had it, as can warm them up nice n hot with hairdryer but then as you're making haste to get them to fit, they start to cool and get harder and harder to manipulate.Getting withdrawal symptoms as it's been well over a month now since I've ridden it! Rubbers gave up when we last visited from Minehead and literally had to go back next day so had to leave her covered under a tarp in the in-laws' garden lol. Quote
caretaker Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 Is it possible to fit them to the carbs first (even if they didnt come off that way) and then onto airbox ie other way around sometimes helps with these things especially if its in order of likely manufacturing procedure Quote
GazzyG Posted October 17, 2010 Author Posted October 17, 2010 That's a good idea mate, I will give it a good go. Going over there again tomorrow after I pick the mrs up from uni.I think the main reason they came off was the old knackered springs they had keeping them on; got some lovely shiney jubilee clips, so once these are on, they're not coming off lol Quote
GazzyG Posted October 18, 2010 Author Posted October 18, 2010 Bit the bullet and just booked it in at the garage lol!Bought a whole set of four new rubbers.Gonna get them to give carbs clean out while they're off too! Quote
