urbanmark Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 I have adjusted my chain (it was a tad loose) I have adjusted it so it is tighter (within specs) and now when under engine breaking it makes a noise like a massive dildo running out of battery. Is this sound normal or do you think I should losen it? It is lubed (The chain, not the dildo sound) Quote
mattyb Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 Check you've not left a massive dildo under the seat, if you did then it might need a new battery.Did you measure the chain just in one place or in several? I was told it can vary and is supposed to be adjusted based on the loosest point, otherwise you can end up with it correct at the point you measured but too tight in other places. Quote
urbanmark Posted December 12, 2010 Author Posted December 12, 2010 The Manual says it should have 20-30mm of play at the middle of the bottom part of the chain, and that is what I have. I have an underseat exhaust so my dildo wont fit under the seat. I have to put it over my shoulder. Quote
Guest Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 Have you checked to see if you have any tight spots in the chain? Quote
Stu Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 front or rear brake? not locking the rear are we ?the rear can make a right racket when locked Quote
urbanmark Posted December 12, 2010 Author Posted December 12, 2010 No tight spots and defo not locking the brakes. Quote
Stu Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 where is the noise front back middle? if it sounds like its middle of the bike near your feet your chain might be too tight and under braking getting tighter as the rear suspension reaches full extension and causing noise on the front sprocket/output bearing Quote
blakeatron Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 you did tighten the rear wheel up properly? Quote
urbanmark Posted December 12, 2010 Author Posted December 12, 2010 to 100NM as per the manual, but that has got me really nervous. How would I know if it wasnt tight enough and why would that make a buzzing noise in relation to my speed? Quote

I might just loosen it a bit and see what happens. Quote
Stu Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 100nm is tight enough!!are you getting any noise while riding normally ? like a whining noise? which increases with speed? Quote
urbanmark Posted December 12, 2010 Author Posted December 12, 2010 I cant hear it, but that might be because I cant hear it over the engine and the wind (no fairings) Quote
Stu Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 so if you can hear a whining all the time since you adjusted the chain its too tight its the output bearing on the gearbox you did check tension after you tightened the rear axle nut didnt you ? suzuki's are known for the chain going tighter when the axle is tightend up due to flex in the swingarm also add a little weight to the bike when checking too ie someone sat on it Quote
firestorm Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Whats the milage of the chain and sprockets? The front sprocket could be trashed, this needs to be changed at least twice for every chain and rear sprocket. might be worth a look. Quote
firestorm Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 I just thought of something else,,,is the wheel aligned correctly. Quote
