silly question...

how often you guys reckon you have to buy new chain?

how many miles you do one one from new?

That will depend on how you look after it, wether you have a scotoiler and what bike its on, just keep it loooooobed and adjust when necessary and change it when you find your having to adjust it really frequently.

Oh and whats a torque wrench, i thought all you needed was a coupe of adjustable spanners and a hammer!

buy yourself a torque wrench. They are not to expensive. Share one with a mate if you need to. "Guessing" with caliper bolts and wheel axle bolts is dangerous. Leave the halfa job attitude to the cowboys and do the job right.

I use a torque wrench to tighten cylinder heads in stages and make sure the same torque is applied to all the head bolts. Apart from that I have never needed a torque wrench in 35 years of working on car and motorbike engines and chassis. Are you saying I am a cowboy ? If you can't safely tighten a wheel axle bolt without a torque wrench, you shouldn't be using a spanner, never mind a torque wrench

TBH I mainly have a torque wrench for the low torque / sensitive stuff... but most stuff i dont really need it but its nice to know your not over/under tightening it!

and the noob comment was just one of my sarcastic things, i know a lot of people can do it by "feel" etc.
