Run a file over the pad material and round off the Sharp leading edges .

A FILE????!!!!?????

The pads only squeal through vibration in the caliper, I would suggest 80-120 grit wet and dry, take the shine off the friction material, clean all the brakes parts with brake cleaner and a little smidge of copper grease on the top edges and the rear face where the piston meets the pad, and if you want to be really posh get some anti squeal shims.

The reason why brake pads normally squeal:-

Cheap Make

Not bedded in properly from new

Cooked Em..If you find your brakes are squealing after a good session, the one where you go back to the bike 30 minutes after you parked it up and its still making ticking noises and smelling odd :D then the brakes have got too hot and the pads have gone to hard from the heat, a way that does work is go out and work the brakes hard again then cool them down by easing up on the braking, don't just park up and leave them to cool quickly.

Yes, a file, haven,t you got one???

Got one but was always under the impression files were used for METAL not brake friction material.

Depends on grade of file and how you use it. I use wet and dry for smoothing bodywork before filling, not on brake materiel

i think what mega is trying to say is take the edge of the pad as this can cause the pads to squeel ive had it a few times on cars and bikes

a quick run over the edge with a file sorts it out (if thats the problem)
