cbf 600 sa8 fuel injection inefficiency

i have a cbf 600 sa8, i got it second hand with 2.800 miles on it. i have treated it very well for this 1 year( early oil changes, service, sparks, etc) i never pull the engine higher than 8000 rpm, i use the bike for trips through the mountain sites. i have 15 000 miles at the moment. this last 2 months i feel the bike being weak, its not accelerating as it was before and it makes a heavier sound from the exhaust around 4500 to 6500 rpm. i have change the spark plugs again and checked wires, clean everything from valves to air intakes but still the same. mechanic said we might need to change the injection, is the only thing left.

So is any way of getting the injection adjusted or i need to throw it away?

well i live in cyprus, i study at the university to be a doctor,2 years more to go, i got this problem and everyone say a diferrent version of the problem, others say is catalytic converter and others injection, all michanics looked at the bike dont really know whats the problem. And each of them say something diferent. i am not a mechanic but it seems they like to torch people and get their money but the problem still exist...

it could be a blocked up cat if your only taking it steady

they can soon get sooted up!!

not sure if these have an exup valve either which if they stick or the motor dies could cause a similier problem

when the mechanic is talking about the injection system which part is he talking about? there is a few parts that make up the system and i cant see all of it been buggered more often then not if its injection side its faulty wiring or dead ecu

mechanic talks for the injection mixture, the oxygen sensor is new and the ecu is working 100% ok( we checked). the mixing of gazoline and air seems to be the problem or the catalytic converter.. wich both worth a fortune.

well the only way the air and fuel ratio coould be out is if theres a blockage somewhere

ie air box or exhaust

does it rev up ok when not in gear ?

the rpm when is no gear in are ok, and response of the throttle is fine too. and there is normal noise coming from the exhaust muffler too. problem is when we are on board accelerating. this thing is killing me, i wish we get a solution. all seems ok, when you open the throttle you hear that heavy sound on 4500 to 6500 rpm, and it feels that the exhaust need to cough or something.

to be more specific the sound start to change at 4500rpm and you still hear it till it reach 6500 rpm. after this sound gap all works normal and fine. its like a dead horsepower line.

I don't know much about fuel injected bikes I'm afraid.

Fitting a power commander may help.

the engine is virgin. all standard, never replace anything with aftermarket. i replace the exhaust too. is new, the mullfer.

You say you replaced the muffler, was it a genuine Honda part or an aftermarket one of a different make?

This could mess your fueling up if it's not the original, it may just need setting up for the new can (muffler)

the muffler is replace to see if that was the problem and is genuine Honda. if i take off the exhaust and put another brand is gonna be better?

Unless the bike has been set up for a different muffler in the past, the genuine one should be best suited

That's why I asked about the exhaust

I thought you may have a non-standard pipe or can

fitted which could be messing up the fueling.

If the bike is standard and there are no obvious problems

with the air or fuel (blocked filters, kinked pipes etc)

then I think you're going to have to take it to a Honda dealer

They should be able to just plug bike into diagnostics and it will

tell them what's wrong.

Is there a Honda dealer on Cyprus? I spent a year there altogether

and I can't remember 1.

it is a honda dealer here... i am also thinking to go and check. and at troodos is kinda risky if they dont clean the road with the road machine. at fridays they clean it up.. i wish you have some lucky weekends ride.

well we discover what was. you will laugh. the first spark wire pipe was getting lose from the vibration of the engine while we ride the motorcycle and that was the reason that we had these bad sound and the engine was feeling weak. well now we pushed it deep 3 times and its stuck there all goes fine. i wish you all good holidays, and thanks for your advices.
