guys, need some advice. went out today with my instructor for a 3 hour ride. was ok doing local roads etc, but as we got into faster traffic, i started to have problems hearing his instructions, partially due to the wind noise in my helmet, but also as i have a slight hearing problem anyway.

can anyone suggest ways to reduce wind noise, i use a caberg justissimo. i know it's a bit late as my test is on Monday, but it's not been as bad as it was today and i'm worried i may not be able to follow what the examiner is saying. thanks.

Before you move off the examiner should ask if you can hear him, perhaps mention that your helmet is a bit noisy and can he turn up the apparatus. My examiner was quite softly spoken and I did have trouble hearing him at times, on one occasion I think I took the wrong exit from a roundabout but he just gave me further instructions to go back to where he wanted me to. Even if you go wrong, if you ride ok it's not a problem.

I think if it was me and the exam was under way but I had trouble hearing, I'd pull over (making sure it was safe to do so) and ask if he could increase the volume. Not sure if this would affect your test but I can't see why if you ride safely.

Good luck for Monday BTW!

I had trouble hearing the examiner on mod2

When I couldn't hear him I would point to my left ear and he repeated the instruction

Eventually he stopped and changed his mike which made it a little clearer

my examiners ear piece was alot better than my instructers, alot more clearer and louder,

i think there normally alot better quality than some instructers, and he will test it out before you head off for your test

The battery in my radio failed during my Mod 2 and I just stopped at a junction and pointed to my helemt. I was asked to pull in at the side of the road and he went to get another battery.

I would own up to the problem and ask for a radio test to make sure you can hear the instructor at speed.
