Comrade Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Never thougth about this until now, in my part of world, theres a roundabout two lanes 3 exits, now on approach the road divides into two lanes one immediate left -first exit, the second is for straight ahead and third exit. Now the right hand lane ( 2nd and 3rd exit ) is marked with a arrow pointing to right. Now, if im going straight ahead i have to use right hand lane But do i have to use right indicator? i see people doing this but to me it seems wrong as its the only indication your going to take 3rd exit!please advise! Guest akey Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Short answer is no. But you should indicate left once you have passed the first exit. Quote
Comrade Posted July 30, 2011 Author Posted July 30, 2011 thought so, is what ive been doing despite some irate drivers telling me to indicate loloh and ta akey Quote
dispersion Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 drivers shouldn't get annoyed. If your not indicating left, then your obviously going to be going straight ahead or further. But car drivers (steriotyipically) always feel that they no more than riders. Quote

OhJay Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 'coz car drivers have a long, well established history of always indicating correctly...No waitFrom your description it sounds like you're doing exactly the right thing. Only question I'd ask is what's the arrow in the left lane? Is left lane left only coz you mention the arrow in the right lane pointing right. If you're going straight over don't indicate right, the guy coming out of the road you're going in to will get confused and wait for you unnecessarily and he'll have a legitimate gripe. Quote
Comrade Posted July 30, 2011 Author Posted July 30, 2011 sorry, i should've added the left hand lane shows left handed arrow Quote
OhJay Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Then yeah, right hand lane approach, no indicatorIndicate left as soon as your front wheel passes the first exit and goIf you approach in the left hand lane there's a very real risk someone will pull out on you from that first road Quote
Remy Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Sounds like you're doing the right thing but the road markings on the right lane should indicate straight ahead and right, a bit confusing if it has a right arrow only! Quote
Comrade Posted August 1, 2011 Author Posted August 1, 2011 heres a link to google maps folkshttp://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=princes ... 2,,0,20.92 Quote
Lumor_uk Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 I thought they only used arrows when there are more than two lanes.Going by what the IAM advanced biker book says, if it's past the 12 o'clock position you should consider indicating right. I would at that round about, as soon as you've past the first exit indicate left. Quote
Comrade Posted August 14, 2011 Author Posted August 14, 2011 Checked with ADI chap and he says indicate right , but its critical that you check mirrors and blindspot as roundabouts as such can be dangerous as everyone will have different ideas about it! Quote
Hoover Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 in my part of world, theres a roundabout two lanes 3 exits, what your descibing is technicly right but it would normally be classed as two exits as the third is back where you have come from, so take it as two exits and indicate as either left or right depending which way your going.
