Remy Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 Am thinking of booking a first track day (with tuition), the closest to me is Donington then Oulton. Those of you who have ridden them, which would be more suitable for a total novice, or would either be okay? Quote

dfrbrowne Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 Hi remy, let me know how you get on as I want to do a beginners track day as well, Oulton is closest to me maybe if we can arrange it we can give each other moral support! Quote
nman1 Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 Me too, but I think I might wait until next year. Let us know if you do booke anything and I`ll have a think. Quote
TC Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 Have a word with Jin she did a Ron Haslam one which i think she was impressed with. Quote
megawatt Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 Some tracks do a Novices intro day. You pay £20 for 20 minutes. If you don't like it, it's only cost £20. Trawl the providers and see what's on offer. Ron Haslam race school sounds like the best? What about Anglesey? Quote
duane69 Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 spent a lot of time in and around tracks and racers but never been on track myselfwould love to do a track day but money is short and I'd have to buy bigger leathers first because my old ones shrunk in the wash Quote
Matt Strange Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 A little bit of a trek for you, Castle Combe is a very 'novice friendly' circuit. This is both in terms of layout & the staff attitude plus they have a very lenient 105db noise limit too.http://www.castlecombecircuit.co.uk/tra ... mation.asp Quote
whitedevil Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 I wouldnt bother with one of those 20 minute 1 session things it takes a few sessions to get the feel of it and settle the nerves etc. There are instructors about who will take you round the track and follow you and give advice, all you need to do is ask them. Best thing is its free i wouldnt bother paying £100's for a private instructor.Just my 2pjust looked at your location, mallory park is pretty close to you, its a pretty simple track and its been recently resurfaced. They also dont do noise testing. Quote
Stuno1 Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 Did my first day this year at silverstone. Any day in the novice section shoukd be ok. Silverstone was great as is a wide track with plenty of run off. Ideally go to a track with good amount of run off! I used it 5 times over the day...Also as mentioned above do a full day. Takes a few sessions to get used to the track and build confidence. Best thing i have ever done though. Amazing fun. Also either get time with a instructor or get an experianced mate to ride behind you and give you pointers.Stu Quote
littlecat Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 very interested myself, but dont know whether i will try it this year , or wait till early next year Quote
