Guest Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 Coming out of the end of my road the other day my clutch cable snapped, so I got myself a new one from the breakers, same size etc.I've took the old one off and put the new one on copying just how it was before yet I can't of done it correctly as I only get a tiny bit of bite when the clutch is nearly fully let out.I've never done this before so I must be missing something somewhere, i've tried to adjust it up on the clutch itself with the adjusting nut and if I screw it out any further I get nothing, twisted right in as shown on the picture that's where I get a bit of bite, there are some other bolts down below that may need adjusting which i've photographed:Any tips/advice would be greatly appreciated:http://i655.photobucket.com/albums/uu271/lee85/DSC04095.jpghttp://i655.photobucket.com/albums/uu271/lee85/DSC04096.jpghttp://i655.photobucket.com/albums/uu271/lee85/DSC04093.jpghttp://i655.photobucket.com/albums/uu271/lee85/DSC04092.jpg Quote
megawatt Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 Screw handlebar and clutch end adjusters fully in to give max amount of inner cable showing. Fit nipple to clutch end , remove clutch lever and fit nipple into it. Refit lever to handlebar pivot. Adjust clutch end until most play has gone at clutch lever. Finally adjust at clutch lever until there is. 3mm off free play at lever. The clutch lever should feel tight when pulled to open 3mm gap, then as you pull lever further, the clutch should disengage until fully disengaged with lever touching handlebar. Quote
Tango Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 The only thing I can suggest is check the routing of the cable as it can be pulling the cable tight. Otherwise try a new cable. Venhill make cables for a lot of bikes....as you don't say which bike it's for I can't check if they do one for yours. Quote

I know, i adjusted mine two or three days ago when i changed my handlebars Quote
