Guest Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 i have been advised to drop a tyre size on the back of my thunderbird 900 2002. from 160/80 x 16 to 150/80 x 16. has any one got any veiws about this other than it will speed up my turn in and that more makes of tyre are available? or is it simpy a ploy by the dealer to empty his shelves. i will be changing both front and rear in the near future and i fancy avons. thanks in advance for your advice. Personally I would ALWAYS stick to what the bike manufacturer recommends, since they designed the bike to take that size I figure they would know best Quote
Stu Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 that will not speed up your turn in you need a taller profile tyre and the profile is the 80 part of the tyre this is an aspect ratio of the 160 and 150 part of the tyre the taller the tyre the quicker it will turn so it works like this the side wall is 80% of the 160 or the 150 depending on the tyre you pick the 160 will stand taller then the 150 i would stick to the 160 personally Quote
Guest Hodgy Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 I've got a Thunderbird Sport, I wouldn't swap sizes if I was you, I am running BT021 at the moment, they seem to stick well and I don't have any problem getting it round bends Quote
