alex15969 Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 My 1981 Kawasaki KH125 isnt charging the battery inside it (it is a 6v system by the way), so what should I do? I returned it to the guy who sold it to me and he said he charged it for a minute and it was fine, but after a 20 minute journey the lights started dimming, then went completely out. Any theories?Alex. Quote

mealexme Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 haha, ok ok. Not paying attention obviously lol.since they stopped making that bike a while ago, I hope the part from another bike will fit, otherwise its going to be rather hard to find a replacement :s Quote
GazW Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Multimeter across your battery terminals, check your voltage when its running, if its going too low then your alternator isn't charging your battery, if its too high then your reg/rec is boiling your battery.Don't know the voltages for a 6v system, for a 12 it should be around 14 at 5k. Would guess it would be around 7/8 mark. No doubt someone will be along to tell you shortly Quote
toon83 Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 take it back and get your money back or get him to fix it for free Quote
