Silverspring Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 (edited) ETA: This was mod 1 training - not the actual test Everything was going pretty well, need to work on using my brake on the slalom but other than that it was going amazing then got the the swerve test and it all went wrong. It was utterly p!ssing down with rain, there was a massive puddle coming out the bend and I just couldn't get the speed the first 2 times (I appreciate I was being a chicken here as I had managed it fine with the emergency stop) then I got the speed and the swerve, wooo! Then I was asked to try again. And I hit the cone. Then again, and I missed the speed by miles. And again, missed the speed by miles. And again, speed was 48 which would probably have been a pass but it doesn't bode well that I was close to the margin. All in all feeling rubbish about the whole thing. Will need to do another session, hopefully the weather will be a bit better next time. Edited October 8, 2011 by Silverspring Quote
Silverspring Posted October 8, 2011 Author Posted October 8, 2011 Sorry, edited OP, I had put more detail then cut most of it as I decided no one wanted to read about my amazing emergency stop in the rain Quote
Throttled Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 I failed 4 out of 5 practices at the swerve and nailed it during the test by thinking 'f**k it, I am going to do this'. Quote
TC Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 Don't let it get you down. As you said the rest me the lessonwent well, there will always be strong and weak points for all of us (i used to struggle turning right) The only real answer and advice is to practice practice practice. Maybe your a little more cautious because your using your own bike and don't want to bin it. Anyway Best of luck and i hope you have a dry day next time you try it Quote
Silverspring Posted October 9, 2011 Author Posted October 9, 2011 I failed 4 out of 5 practices at the swerve and nailed it during the test by thinking 'f**k it, I am going to do this'. That makes me feel a bit better I may have to try to 'f**k it' attitude at the next practise session! I think I will try taking it in third next time, I honestly think my bike was just maxing out below 30 in second, had the throttle fully open and was not conscious of closing it before the speed gate could probably get into third before the bend. Need a new strategy as the plan yesterday just wasn't working! Quote
littlecat Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 snap, thats exactly how my mod 1 practise went, every singl time that i re ran to get the speed , i kicked shit out of the cones. i passed first time on the day , with a clean run at 57kph !!, so dont worry, just go for it Quote
