Ok so as you know I bought a Bike Yesturday and now I have a low budget.

However, I want to start working on it (yes I know its winter but ill re-do touch ups when summer comes if need be).

Theres a few scratches and marks on the tank and ive spent the last hour watching videos on how to repair scratches but anyone have any previous experience of this?

As I am a complete novice I will ask this but parts of the engine I think were meant to be black have slowly scratched away (what is expected of a bike of 12 years) but should I be ok to just use black touch up paint on it?

As I have not looked when buying touch up paint I am guessing engins - black plain touch up paint but the tank etc...will be slightly metallica - best to use a bike shop for this and give model?

If its any help its a FZS600 but I WILL be posting up pictures of what I mean and what bugs me.

On another note going to be removing the exsting tank protector thing (minds gone blank) that runs up the tank. I was thinking of getting a white one but not sure yet so suggestions please.

Thanks!

i have sprayed engine casings before

ideally you need an etch primer as the casing is likely to be alloy

it is pretty easy to do :)

body work however is a different story
