Quite easy, probably no more than 1 hour if you haven't done it before, check out the Scottoiler website, there are detailed fitting instuctions for lots of different bikes on there. The hardest part is deciding where to fit the reservoir :)

How much are they?

Between £70 and £100 depending on capacity and if you want twin injectors, and if you want new or used. Loads on Ebay

whats the point?

There are actually several points....

Increases the life of your motorbike chain & sprockets by up to 7 times

Improves performance

Significantly reduces motorbike chain maintenance

Saves you time, money and hassle

and

The Scottoiler vSystem is the latest edition of the market-leading range of vacuum-operated Scottoiler chain lubrication systems.

The kit gives a range of approximately 400 - 800 miles between refills of the RMV (Reservoir Metering Valve), depending on the flow setting.

and they are perfect for a lazyarse like me that believes that time spent with the bike should be riding time :P

How often should you oil the chain then? Becuase I do mine every 1.5k-ish miles :s

Personally, never, since I have a Scottoiler. :D

Someone said in another place every 100 miles recently. That would be every day if I used the bike for commuting and didn't get it done automagically.

I do mine at least once a week, when I'm commuting usual twice. So that's every 100 - 200 miles...

Its one less thing to worry about when your touring, fill up the scottoiler before you leave and then all your chain oiling is done for you, Plus your dont have to carry a can of chain lube with you taking up extra space on the bike.

If you haven't got a centre stand oiling the chain is a pain.

On a side note a used to oil my chain about every 300 miles, Normally when i got back from a ride so that the oil/lube has time to soak into the o rings. If you do it before you set off alot of the lube just flies off all over your back wheel and bike.
