i've been having a problem with one of my front brake calipers on an 02 deauville, damn thing keeps sticking on. get it freed, cleaned up etc, but a few weeks later it sticks again.

i have the chance of a pair of calipers from a 99 bike but neither the seller nor i know if they will fit.

any ideas chaps?

mine has the dual braking system.

Have you cleaned up behind the seals? A common problem is a build up behind the seal and causes the seals to grip the piston's

what Jake said Red Rubber Grease is your friend and YES it is for brakes, just don't put it on the pads!!!

TBH I think I'd be inclined to rebuild your existing callipers. It's an easy job...and once you know how to do it you'll be ok to do it if needed in the future. The other calliper you are looking at may be in no better condition than the one already on your bike. Deauville's are a good commuter bike and most tend to get used year round....so any secondhand parts are likely to be "used and abused" .....

:stupid:

thats the problem with second hand you really dont know what they are like till you get them

you could end up having to rebuild them and you could just do that to yours

also you still on rubber lines? could have a bit of crap in the caliper from the line blocking the fluid flowing back out the caliper properly or even a collapsed line

theres loads of reasons start with the calipers work your way up :)
