mealexme Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 i was told to turn the fuel off and run the petrol out of the carbs for storage but it only has on res and prime so i can't turn it off :s would starting it up once a month stop any fuel in the carbs going off?thanks Quote
megawatt Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 Remove vacuum pipe from fuel tap, temporaily block it up with some tape or a small bolt. The tap will have shut due to there being no vacuum to open it and you can run the carbs dry, but it may take a while! Quote
mealexme Posted November 13, 2011 Author Posted November 13, 2011 'kay thank, will try that tomorrow Quote
Roadtorque Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 My kwak has no petrol tap, the other bike has one but I never use it, as long as the carbs stay wet you should be ok, its only when the the fuel in the tank evaporates & the carbs dry out you end up with trouble, green fuel leaves deposit as it dries & with the carbs being the lowest point,,, Well, enough said,,,,others might dispute this method but, it work for me, I've had a bike off the road for 12 months & it started ok but don't forget to keep the battery topped up Quote
