T180985 Posted December 10, 2011 Posted December 10, 2011 i had some Oxford Hotgrips installed on my bike on thursday and they worked perfectly when i rode it home but from the following day i dont see to be able to make them go any higher than 30%, ive called Oxford and am waiting for a call back from their customer service people but i wondered if you guys had any idea what may be wrong? they turn on but i just cant turn the temp up and it was -2 this morning so was really hoping to get some use from them Quote

keith565 Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 it may be that your battery isn't capable of charging them. i have some, only fitted a few weeks ago. i notice that if i turn them on while the bike is idling or just started then the grips run at 30%. once i'm away they will go to 100%. i think it's a safety feature so as not to drain your battery. it may be that your battery is to low an amperage. not sure but i think you need a battery higher than 6A with mine anyway. Nogin Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 Yeah I'm sure my Oxford grips only run at 30% when the bike is on idle. I know they really heat up when I'm going along. Quote
Colin the Bear Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 When you get them sorted can you cook me some doughnuts Quote
Matt Strange Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 The only feature i know of is if they are supplied less than 11.5V then will will shut off completely. They use far less power than the lights on your bike, if your bike is capable of running with the headlights on with no trouble then it will run with the grips on for definite. Grips & lights together, however....may not. You'd need to check the battery condition & the stator/alternator to be 100% sure. Quote
megawatt Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 Go back to the place that fitted them? Quote
