When we stopped outside the Red Lion (somewhere just off the a428 north of Lavenham) a guy came out of the pub to see if we were OK. Says he runs a local bike repair place. Had a little chat with him. I doubt anyone would have batted an eyelid if we had been in the car. Just shows what kind of comraderie there is between most bikers..... 8-)

First one today, Rannoch Station on what was a beautiful day for a ride. I was in the snow going past Shiehallion, but with the sun visor down as it was so sunny.

If you are going to do Rannoch Station, the Loch Tummel part of the road is closed until the end of February. So either go via the Schiehallion Rd or from the A9 on the B847. Also, if you have a bike with a small tank the nearest petrol stations are at Lix Toll, which is a round trip of 132 miles, Aberfeldy and a round trip of 102 miles or Pitlochry and a round trip of 114miles. The petrol station at Kinloch Rannoch has closed.

I would recommend you try both roads north and south of Loch Rannoch going to and from the station. The views are stunning :D

It was about half a mile from home, there is a tricky t-junction with limited visibility and a mirror. I looked in the mirror, nothing coming right, looked left and a couple of cars, but due to the angle I'd put my bike when I stopped it started to lean and my leg was out too far to stop it going past the point of no return (can't flat foot)  - doesn't take much with my arthritic hands!! So I tried to put it down as gently as possible but couldn't stop the inevitable last drop :crybaby: :x

All the cars just carried on past but one lorry driver stopped and picked it up for me (unsurprisingly he was also a biker!). I've got away with minimal damage again, a broken brake lever and a few exhaust scratches - that's all - phew :|

Glad you are OK..... :) Once the bike gets past that point there's no holding it.......some junctions have really nasty cambers on them too which can catch you out. Cosmetic damage that shouldn't take too much to sort by the sounds....

I don't suppose it will be the last time  . My problem seems to be when turning right at a slow pace if I have to stop suddenly - my lack of leg length and weak hands means if the bike is leaning there's no way I can heave it up again! Turning left somehow doesn't seem as bad - I think my left leg is stronger than the right one and because I usually rest on it when stationary it's 'programmed' to prop the bike up! I think if it happens again I will invest in some folding levers, it will be cheaper to replace the bar ends than the brake lever every time!

Today I was mostly wearing.....

tights

Thermal leggings

Textile trousers

Thick socks

Sidi boots

Two thermal tops

TMBF hoody

Lined textile jacket

Thermal buff

and I was still bl@@dy cold!!

We went to Saffron Walden where there is a Railway pub and then to (not sure where) a Royal Oak in S.Cambridgeshire. The King's Head and King's Arms we were looking for eluded us though in spite of several diversions so will have to have another run to complete the pub challenge. Just short of 100mile run.

Just warming up and need to wash the salt off the bikes when they've cooled a little so will post the pics a bit later

Bikes washed and ACF50'd..... 8-)

Engine management warning light came on during the run....but didn't seem to make any difference to the running of the bike.....so I think I'll give it the 3 heating cycles and see what happens then....

Grantown Museum & Heritage Trust, Burnfield House, Burnfield Avenue, Grantown-on-Spey, PH26 3HH

Its just a place of interest in my town, but most importantly we have some of the best biking roads in the country up here in the Spey valley so it would be worth the trip for anyone.

Nice pics Neil. Bike needs washing though

We didn't get out this weekend as we had stuff to do and wanted to do some work the bikes - only got as far as changing my plugs though because of problems and poor light. Still have oil change and chain adjustment on Bonnie and Bob has everything to do on Tango

So true Mandy, bikes in a right mess. Needs the old ACF treatment as well. Had a good run yesterday and called in on my cousin at Gedney Hill. Bit cold but not too bad.

Well i looked on google maps for a nice looking white horse pub to go get a pic of, found one so off i went. Got there and took a pic but the place was shut so i couldn't get any food or drink :(

On my way back through the village i found out why the place was shut.

All the locals are to old andscared to leave the house incase they have a coronary.
